The Ultimate Creators Business Playbook (Part 4)

I loved to sell not until I became a digital creator….

I sold mangoes as a teenager.

Way back early 2000.

We had a German mango tree that produced very sweet succulent green mangoes.

Photo ( these were the types of mango I sold not the popular yellow ones )

Selling these mangoes meant that my mum had extra money to buy my provisions when its time for me to go back to school.

I enjoyed doing it.

I got to climb the mango trees and shake down the fruits.

On a slow day when I was selling to walk in costumers I made about N500 TO N1000.Which was good money back in the day.

On Saturdays I made the biggest money ranging from 2k to 3k.

On weekends I have my wholesale buyers come in to buy all the mangoes that will be shaken down.

Some times they come with their climbers so all I had to do was sit down and count number of mangoes to be sold.

They get good quality and quantity for their money.

So they always came back the next weekend.

My mangoes were good and rare in the neighborhood.

I never had to beg anyone to buy.

They see my product, they love it and they rush me.

The women that buy from me book many Saturdays ahead.

I never lacked customers rather sometimes supply was not enough.

It was a fun and enjoyable experience.

Those days were my best child hood memories.

I managed that business so well.

My mother was so proud.

I didn’t know this then until she was telling the stories when we have all brown up

I didn’t even know that the art of selling was a big deal until the era of selling online.

I see all the gimmicks the internet marketers employ and I feel disgusted.

The lies they call promises.

The way some coaches and course creators push and force you to buy.

Or the programs you buy and you wonder why you parted your money for such less quality.

It never seemed right to me.

The buying experience should be fun too.

Now over the years, I've created and sold digital products.

For every time I sold there was no unnecessary complicated funnel.

For the products that didn't sell I was overthinking and overcomplicating the selling journey.

I have also realized that people buy because they know you to a certain extent and trust that you can deliver what you promised.

Every thing you do online will determine whether people will buy from you or not.

Just like back in the day when I was selling mangoes

There were simple key things that made my mangoes sell out.

The same principles apply online.

  1. The product:

My mangoes were the best in town. It was different from the popular yellow ones. My customers preferred my mangoes because they were fresh and straight from the source.?

Your product has to be good. And I mean quality here. It must have the ability to solve your audience's problem. It should be easy to market. When people pay you they should have their problems solved.

2. I was happy to sell those mangoes:

It gave me joy to see people buy my mangoes knowing they they will love it

You must love what you do. You struggle to sell what you don’t like. If you are a person of value, when you create products that are below your normal standard you feel uncomfortable to sell it because you know its not good enough.

Fall in love with the products you create . It will drive you to make it better.

3. The content:

Once you enter our compound back in the day, you must have a taste of our mangoes. We served it as kolanut to both buyers and friends that came to visit. You can’t have a taste without wanting some more.

The content you put out online is what sells you the brand and the products you create. When people taste your content they assume that your products will even be top notch. The quality of your content should be as good and even better than your paid products.

These principles is what sells you. When people buy into who you are they buy your products as long as it solves their problem

Selling is dynamic.

There are different pathways to it.

Content based selling: This is the art of turning your words into paying clients. The way you structure your social media content to convert your readers and viewers

Event based selling: This is when you create a virtual event with the aim of converting your audience. This comes in form of 5 days challenges, one day webinar and any video event you create online

Following this pathways builds your connection and trust with your audience faster than when you just run one off Facebook adverts to sell directly to strangers

It is also the best pathway for those who want to create and deliver transformational products as creators..

It also helps you to build a creator business that aligns with your values.

You don’t have to join the grind of salesy annoying marketers who spam you everyday with their offers when you follow the content and event based selling pathways
