Setting up your business for success, is way easier said than done, but we know that, and if you became a coach to make a positive impact on the world, but are struggling to join the dots between coaching and business, then you are in the right place.
Firstly let me say: You are not alone, many coaches feel that way. When you first launch your business, you do not know what you do not know, It can be overwhelming and time consuming thinking about how to go from free to paid coaching consistently.
You get known in your inner circle as the free expert, someone they turn to solve a problem, but that will not build your business.
In this edition, l want to give you a checklist to make sure you have certain things in place, as they will be essential if you want to grow your business.
From here you can identify any gaps and decide on next steps.
- A Vision statement: Outlining the big picture vision of the impact you want your coaching to have.
- Clarity around who is your ideal client, or target audience. This might be a company who is your ideal client, but you need to map this out.
- Define your niche, as then marketing becomes so much easier. Also you cannot properly define a niche until you have done, vision and ideal client.
- Sit down and write out a business plan, does not have to be complicated, but you need to understand where you want your business to be 12 months from now, and how to get there.
- Think about your core business values. It's important as clients resonate with those values more than you think.
- Implement time to build your business, and map out a CPD journey for your business.
- Fill those gaps. Look at where you are and where you want to be
- Network and collaborate. Business is built on relationships, and so make sure you are connecting with people and groups, who want to support business growth.
- Grow an email list and nurture that list. Think about the systems and processes you need to have in place.
- Strong foundations equal strong growth.
One of the reasons I became a coach and started this newsletter was to support the coaching community to grow, and I know for that to happen, business skills are essential, every coach has to have a clear set of foundations in place to then market their business effectively.
I also believe social media has made business feel complicated, but I don't think it is, and in my next edition I will give you the three most important things you need to consider when it comes to business.
For now, think about this list. As a foundational expert, I specialise in helping coaches get strong business foundations in place, and if you are struggling to attract paying clients, or feel overwhelmed by the lack of progress then its about identifying the issue.
