The UK's new Plastic Packaging Tax is a step in the right direction.

On the 1st April 2022, the UK Plastic Packaging Tax will come into force, providing an economic incentive for businesses to use recycled material when producing plastic packaging, while diverting plastic waste from landfill or incineration.

The tax applies to manufacturers and importers of plastic packaging components which contain less than 30% recycled plastic.

On a global scale, Cedo is already proud to be leading the way, owning and operating one of Europe’s largest plastic film recycling centres based in Geleen in the Netherlands. Here, we receive flexible plastic packaging from households across Europe and turn this into ‘recyclates’, which are in turn used in our UK factory to create millions of collection bags every year containing up to 100% recycled and 100% recyclable plastic content.

The UK's plastic packaging tax is a step in the right direction to a more circular economy in plastic, helping to clear up our natural environment while reducing carbon emissions.

Cedo’s goal by 2025 is to convert 150,000 tonnes of household, retailer, post-commercial and post-industrial packaging waste into recyclates.
