The first till-free grocery store in the UK has opened its doors. Shoppers at Sainsbury’s in central London's Holborn Circus will be able to pay for products using an app and leave the store without going through a checkout. Alcohol and tobacco have been removed as they require time-consuming age verification by a staff member. According to one study, 800 million jobs across the globe could be lost to automation by 2030. Amazon launched its first till-free store in Seattle in January 2018. ? Here’s what people are saying.

Nearly a third of UK graduates are overeducated for their jobs, according to the Office for National Statistics, which defines "overeducation" as having more education than required or having unused skills and knowledge. That figure is higher among those working in London, those in the arts and humanities, and people between the ages of 25 and 49 years, it found. Government data shows a degree still attracts higher earnings, however, with postgraduates typically earning about 40% more than those without degrees. ? Here’s what people are saying.

Brits will take more of their holidays outside the EU this summer, according to Thomas Cook. While Spain remains the top destination, the travel operator reveals nearly half of its package bookings were for countries outside the EU, up from about 38% last year. Turkey saw the biggest growth in demand, while Greece came in third. Thomas Cook attributes the shift in travel plans to a weak pound against the euro, and also pointed to uncertainty surrounding Brexit. ? Here’s what people are saying.

Investors have largely withdrawn from the market for UK shopping centres. The move comes as traditional retailers struggle with increased online competition and greater economic uncertainty. Just £20 million worth of UK malls changed hands in the first quarter of the year — the weakest since at least 2003, according to data from CoStar. That compares with an average over the past decade of £783 million. Properties have been hit as beleaguered retailers restructure their leases. ? Here’s what people are saying.

"Avengers: Endgame" now has the biggest grossing opening in history, CNBC reports. The superhero hit made $1.2 billion worldwide in its first five days — the fastest a film has ever exceeded the $1 billion mark. The Disney and Marvel film beat "Avengers: Infinity War," whose opening weekend grossed $641 million last April. "Endgame" made $156.7 million in North American box office revenue on Friday, about $37 million more than the previous record set by "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" in 2015. ? Idea of the day: The secret to a company’s longevity is often the employees who share its outlook on the world, says Emmanuel Faber, CEO of French food giant Danone, which is celebrating its 100-year-anniversary.

"Teams who have moved forward with their head in the clouds and feet on the ground, and all their senses alive — with a particular ‘nose’ for the weak signals, the opportunities, the early indicators."

Now I’m wondering if my degree will even be useful after reading the comments. My degree takes 4 but I’m getting a bachelors in business. I do not want to be in this generation ...

Seems we have too many graduates and at the same time the ‘value’ of a degree has been devalued .. even ‘dumbed down’ at some institutions.
