The UK's Data Protection Act was enacted in 2018, and the Privacy and Electronic Communication Regulation (PECR) in 2003. PECR applies specifically to electronic communications sent to UK residents. UK is no longer part of the EU, so the e-privacy directive (ePD), which PECR is based on, will not apply. I have provided more information about the subtle?differences between PECR and ePD.
