UK university opens VR classroom
Welcome back to the Inavate EMEA newsletter!
One piece of news you may have missed during the ISE madness was that UK-based (but now very global) AV distributor Midwich Group has launched Ignite. Operating as a separate entity, Ignite is an investment arm, looking for entrepreneurs in pro-AV. It will focusing on investments in start-ups and scale-ups in sectors such as smart and connected spaces, hospitality and event technology, and robotics and automation. With the muscle of Midwich behind it, Ignite will be one to watch over the next 5 years.
In other news it is becoming clear that virtual reality technologies are gaining a greater foothold in the world of education. Higher education institutions seem to be rapidly adopting VR headsets, either as standalone systems to enhance individual lessons, or even in purpose-built classrooms that are equipped with a plethora of VR systems for dedicated VR teaching as part of a wider curriculum (story below). Education requires innovation to explore ideas in new and exciting ways, and the growing exploitation of VR technology offers exciting opportunities for educators and integrators.
