UK-Trinidad and Tobago Trade and Investment Roundtable hosted by the Trinidad and Tobago High Commission, London.

On November 5, 2024, the Commercial Officer for the High Commission for the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago to the United Kingdom, Adanna K. Taylor, in partnership with international development consultancy firm, DMA Invest, hosted a roundtable focused on highlighting investment opportunities in Trinidad and Tobago in three priority sectors – Manufacturing, Maritime and Logistics and Renewable Energy.?

Approximately 40 investors from the UK were treated to presentations by Mr. Sekou Alleyne, Investment Lead at Trinidad and Tobago Trade and Investment Promotion Agency,?and discussions focused on a number of items, including the newly enacted Special Economic Zone regime, our existing industrial parks and opportunities therein, and finally, our solid enabling environment.?

The day's agenda proceeded with the UK-Caribbean Trade and Investment Forum, a collaborative effort of DMA Invest, UK Export Finance and HM Government. Mr. Alleyne was invited to a panel discussion on 'Core Infrastructure - Port, Harbour and Airport Development', alongside representatives of KPMG, UK Export Finance, Jamaica Special Economic Zone Authority and the Department for Business and Trade. In his remarks, Sekou highlighted the expansion of the ANR Robinson airport in Tobago, as well as planned upgrades for Piarco International Airport, and the recently signed MOU between the Ministry of Finance and UK Export Finance. This MoU aims to support Trinidad and Tobago's national development objectives and offers a financing avenue to support projects in national security, healthcare infrastructure, airport development, bridges, and road rehabilitation, among other areas.?

Mr. Alleyne and Ms. Taylor were present for continuing roundtable discussions on investment opportunities in ports and airports, hosted by the UK Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office and supported by DMA Invest and UKEF, on Day 2 of the UK-Caribbean Trade and Investment Forum.
