Battered but not beaten, Theresa May got a coalition partner that will allow her to remain UK prime minister after a snap election in which she squandered a massive lead to win by a hair — but lose her ruling majority. The self-inflicted drama comes a mere two weeks before Brexit talks are scheduled to begin which, May says, will not be delayed.
To celebrate 10 million records and 100 million songs sold, artist Taylor Swift has decided to shake it off and make nice with streaming services. Her full catalogue is now available on Spotify, Pandora Premium and more. Other artists may soon follow Swift, "one of streaming's biggest holdouts," as streaming services’ "payouts are growing and starting to make up for the massive decline in physical record sales," TechCrunch writes.

Yahoo shareholders have officially approved the company's sale to Verizon for $4.48 billion. The merger between Verizon-owned AOL and Yahoo is expected to trigger up to 2,000 layoffs, according to reports — around 15% of the combined company, to be named Oath. It’s been a long road for the deal — expected to close June 13 — due to renegotiations that followed Yahoo’s disclosure of two major data breaches.

Honda has set a self-imposed deadline for perfecting self-driving cars by 2025. It has pledged that its cars will reach automotive standardization body SAE’s "Level 4" — meaning no human intervention will be necessary, except in rare cases. Honda had previously announced it had planned to reach “Level 3,” which allows for semi-autonomous driving for freeways, by 2020. The Japanese carmaker isn’t alone in the race to reach the coveted Level 4: Nissan believes it can do so by 2020 in time to unleash a few autonomous taxis for the Tokyo Olympics.

Facebook is looking into leasing its first San Francisco office to house up to 100 Instagram employees, sources say. Having an SF office would likely help with recruiting efforts, allowing employees to avoid the hour-plus shuttle ride to Instagram's Menlo Park headquarters.

7 年Best of both worlds really. I think Mrs May forgot that a General Election is basically a battle between the parties for UK domestic policies not Brexit. The outcome appears to be that Mrs May and Mr Corbyn have similar views on the nation's requirement for Brexit so that is safe. The Conservative austerity policies such as Health and Welfare are being shredded thanks to Labour but Labour are not in a position to implement their own extreme ideological views as they are not in power. This is how politics should be. I hope it all works out.

7 年Is not a big deal to lose a few seats and to win the highest reading on a sensitive thermostat recording the reading of the UK people's mood and desire for PM Theresa to go a head with the Conservative PROGRAM. Something I can't understand, why on earth; politics keeps a distant from the truth, knowing this might causes serious damages to the UK National Interest. I'm defending no one in saying ; I never came to my mind, or being told, that the PM had a dream one night and decided the next morning to go for General Election, and the opposite was true I should imagine. The UK collective leadership is known as; the title and the subject, when meeting taking place to make a decision to call for election, or to [Go In - or- Exit Out of the EU], One may say, this is what democracy is all about, and this is what is happening in the UK Between different sectors with different visions, and between the UK and EU, the difference here is obvious, referred as - Conflict Of National Interest -, The difference of opinion or visions, within the same nation, creates hatred and split between the same people, and also, dispute on serious issues between two nations or more, could very well creates a destructive war and loss of life, THE STRATEGIC PROGRAM , we are introducing on our page with LinkedIn, is tackling this issue in more details, We recently developed an answer to solve the problems facing developments of oil Industries, and all projects and products , especially works on constructing and developing underdeveloped countries, All readers are welcome to visit our page on LinkedIn, The article will be ready to issue before end of this week,, with thanks.

7 年Trying not to enjoy her failure too much...but failing. Is this the final nail in the coffin of politicians taking the electorate for granted? Maybe there is hope of a less catastrophic Brexit
