UK to launch digital driving licences
The UK government is set to introduce digital driving licenses in an effort to “transform public services” through technology.
The digital license will come as part of a new government app, called Gov.uk, set to be launched later this year. Developers are also considering integrating other government services into the app – such as tax payments and benefit claims.
Anwyl appoints new Head of Digital Marketing
Family-run Anwyl Homes, which is celebrating its 95th anniversary this year, has promoted Laura Jones to head of digital marketing as the company sharpens its online strategy.?

Club L London names marketing chief
Lorenson has overseen Club L London's digital strategy and trading operations since February 2023. In his new role as chief marketing officer, he will oversee the business's marketing strategy as it looks to expand its US presence, reporting directly to Club L London founder and CEO Katie Randev.
'No plans' for UK to follow US and ban TikTok, minister says
There are currently "no plans" for the UK to follow in America's footsteps and ban TikTok, a cabinet minister said.
Darren Jones said cats and dancing videos do not "seem like a national security threat", but suggested the position could change if an issue emerges which the government is "concerned about".

The Digital Spaces programme, launched by The Space, aims to engage communities and transform the way in which they interact with digital creativity. It is supported by the Arts Council and the BFI with funding through the National Lottery.
UK government admits over 25% of its digital systems are outdated
One in four UK government systems are outdated, resulting in £45bn in lost productivity savings, according to its forthcoming ‘State of Digital Government Report.’ Developed with support from Bain & Company, the report gathered input from over 500 leaders across 120 organisations.
“The new findings are also expected to show government departments have been pushed towards bringing in contractors and consultants to complete basic technological tasks instead of full-time staff,” said the Technology Secretary Peter Kyle.
The UK government is launching a digital ID mobile app
The UK government is going to launch an app that will allow citizens to digitize their driver’s licenses. Science Secretary Peter Kyle announced on Tuesday that the GOV.UK Wallet launching for Android and iOS devices later this year will let users securely store government-issued documents on their phone, allowing them to be accessed immediately instead of waiting for physical versions to arrive in the mail.
Government plans to revamp digital services to save £45bn
The government is pushing the idea of using more digital tools and artificial intelligence (AI) to improve the efficiency of the public sector.
The new digital strategy for public services involves transforming citizens’ experiences of government services, improving productivity and strengthening the foundations from how data is used. It also includes boosting skills and attracting talent.
