A specific focus of the project will be to use Anthropic’s advanced AI model, Claude, to improve how the British people use and interact with online government services. There will also be tests conducted to establish the most effective and responsible uses of AI in the wider public sector.
DSIT and Anthropic plan to explore additional opportunities across several areas of shared interest that will help support AI innovation and economic development in the UK, including:?
Anthropic also said it will work closely with the UK AI Security Institute to research and evaluate AI capabilities and potential security risks.
British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer previously vowed that AI will be “unleashed across the UK to deliver a decade of national renewal,” with a government blueprint predicting the tech could play a pivotal role in adding £47 billion ($57 billion) to the economy each year.?
It was also stated £14b ($17b) would come from private investment, with around 13,000 new jobs created as part of the AI revolution.
The partnership will focus on delivery in areas of shared interest
“Today's partnership with Anthropic delivers our commitment to make the UK the best place to build frontier AI, so the benefits of this transformative technology are felt by people and businesses across the country,” said Peter Kyle.
The partnership will target certain areas including scientific progress, with Anthropic’s tech combined with U.K. strengths in R&D and data. Work will be carried out on bolstering the supply chain for advanced AI programs and the infrastructure required to support them.
There will also be a stimulus provided to British innovators and startups, as well as universities and other pioneers.
Anthropic will continue to collaborate with the UK AI Security Institute to keep on top of changes in the sector, monitoring AI capabilities and important security considerations.
Claude is currently used by many government bodies and political institutions including the District of Columba Department of Health and the European Parliament.

1 周Interesting partnership. Anthropic has several fantastic models and I think their focus on safe development of AI aligns with the UK governments broader statements on AI development.
