Electrification of heat: the next half-trillion-dollar market

Early this year, BloombergNEF announced that investment in the clean energy transition has exceeded $1 trillion in 2022, matching overall investment in fossil fuels for the first time. From innovation to delivery - decarbonising the public sector

Direct emissions from public sector buildings have decreased by 10% and reduced energy use has resulted in the government spending £122m less in 2021 –2022 than in 2017 – 2018. Award-winning Modern Energy Partners (MEP) programme worked with 42 public sector sites for solutions to decarbonise these buildings. Marshall reveals new carbon reduction initiatives

Marshall is in the process of producing two significant carbon reduction initiatives to clean up its concrete blocks. The first will inject carbon into concrete facing bricks removing it from the environment. Another project involves making concrete with zero cement content, to ensure there are no cement-reduction additives used at all. Read the full article here.

UK gov to publish a Connections Action plan in the summer

The government is taking the necessary steps to facilitate grid connections to accelerate the deployment of renewable energy and battery storage projects, an action plan is soon to follow. This will play a critical role towards ensuring the UK's energy infrastructure can meet the UK's energy demands sustainably. Read the full article here.

Breaking boundaries: How Futurebuild pitch winners are changing the game

Futurebuild is one of the most exciting events in the construction industry calendar. It provides industry leaders with the chance to share expertise and knowledge and also helps start-ups and SMEs gain increased recognition for pioneering products and ingenious ideas. Two of the most anticipated events at Futurebuild are the Big Innovation Pitch and the Big Ideas Pitch, where a panel of judges made up of industry-leading experts vote on which businesses and products are driving real change in the built sector.?

tepeo’s ZEB (Zero Emission Boiler) wowed the judges of the Big Innovation Pitch this year, taking home the impressive accolade on day two. The ZEB is a low-carbon, plug-and-play alternative to a traditional fossil fuel boiler.

This was an new exciting edition to Futurebuild 2023,?it was great to see the stage and pavilion filled with amazing start-ups and SME’s and their emerging ideas and technologies.?The FutureX Innovation Stage outlined the breadth of support offered through the Net Zero Innovation Programme (NZIP), be sure to catch up on sessions that focused on the Energy Entrepreneurs’ Fund and Flexibility Innovation Programme, two schemes that back the next generation of inventors and innovators.

New Deputy Chief Inspector of Buildings to Deliver Keynote Address at Built Environment England

It’s great to see the inaugural conference in the Built Environment Conference Series is taking place at the?University of Salford on 20 June 2023.
