"For small business owners creating local jobs, the latest budget has been deeply discouraging. Many are now forced into difficult choices, from reducing staff hours to putting personal lives on hold. These aren’t millionaire CEOs – they’re the backbone of local economies, providing jobs and services. The situation is dire, with entrepreneurial confidence reaching an all-time low."

"The budget? Disappointing, though not unexpected. Entrepreneurs are eager to contribute to economic growth, yet we’re not being engaged. Costs are up, and with restrictive regulations, it feels like we’re in a perfect storm. It’s frustrating that there’s little recognition for the contributions we’re ready and willing to make."

"We’re a rural-based international firm, and although we’ve grown from nothing to over ￡20 million in annual revenue, support has been limited. This year, we took a hit to keep our team employed, even with rising costs. It feels like a kick in the teeth to see further costs from this budget. For companies like ours – not big enough to access major incentives but large enough to feel the tax burden – the situation is increasingly unsustainable."

"I think we’re lucky compared to other countries in some ways, but where we’re failing is in supporting scale-ups. This is a massive opportunity for the UK, but we just don’t have the right support for growing businesses right now. It’s hard to compete globally, and the challenges are mounting."
