UK debut at EMO Encore for VCE-600

EMO Encore at our European Technology Centre in Worcester is fast-approaching and one of the highlights is going to be the new VCE-600 vertical machining centre.

Long-time Mazak watchers will have noticed a theme running through our new machine launches in recent years – namely the introduction of a series of entry-level machines.

It started with the launch of an entry-level range of lathes and vertical machining centres, namely the PRIMOS range, and continued with the development of the CV5-500 range of simultaneous 5-axis machines.

The idea has been to introduce the benefits of Mazak technology to a new machine user demographic who might previously have believed that a Mazak was somehow beyond them.

From our point of view, the key has been to develop machines that appeal to this new demographic, particularly in terms of affordability, without compromising our principles of exceptional technology and build quality.

Certain characteristics are common to our entry-level machines, specifically compact footprint and high performance combined with a high-specification. The new VCE-600, making its UK debut at EMO Encore, is no different.

A few years ago, we started getting a lot of feedback from the market that there was increasing demand for a machining centre with a large Y-axis stroke to increase versatility and the size of the machining envelope.

The result is the VCE-600, a machine designed and built in the UK that is the first of a new range of vertical machining centres we will introduce in the coming years.

The machine is specifically designed to deliver superior productivity at a competitive price and we believe it is ideal for subcontractors and jobshops looking to invest in machines that make them more productive and profitable, whilst always being mindful that space is at a premium.

It comes equipped with a generous table size of 1300 mm x 600 mm and offers increased versatility due to its X/Y/Z axes travel of 1,050/ 600/ 600 mm that together maximise space for workpieces and fixturing. Productivity is delivered by a 12,000 rpm / 18.5 kW / 119.4 Nm spindle with an electronic two-speed shift. This makes it a versatile choice for a wide range of materials, with power and speed for machining non-ferrous materials and torque and power for steel.

Most importantly, there is no compromise on build quality with a level of specification that mirrors premium-priced machines, including pre-tensioned ballscrews, direct coupled servo motors and linear roller guides on all axes.

A 24-tool magazine as standard, with options available for 30 and 48 tools and the CNC is the new SmoothEz, a high-specification CNC developed for entry-level machines. You’ll find plenty of more information on this latest MAZATROL innovation at EMO Encore.
