UK Charities Have New Fundraising Option

UK Charities Have New Fundraising Option

Today, Facebook announced the launch of a partnership with PayPal Giving Fund. The partnership will enable UK charities in the PayPal Giving Fund directory to fund-raise on Facebook for the first time. When individuals or organizations in the UK create a Facebook Fundraiser or add a donate button to a post, they will be able to select UK charities within the PayPal Giving fund directory. Like Facebook's other giving products, this new feature will be free. Neither charities nor donors will pay any setup or transaction fees.

Adding to the International Fundraising Toolbox

The PayPal Giving Fund partnership strengthens the suite of low to no cost digital fundraising tools available to charities internationally. That suite now includes the following:

  1. Facebook Targeted Ads. Using Facebook / Instagram's ads manager, organizations can build audiences almost anywhere in the world and deliver to these audiences targeted fundraising appeals or other awareness material. Most countries that have Facebook allow this functionality. Costs range from a few cents per impression up to $100 per new $100K+ rated prospect (Want to grow your footprint among the wealthy in the United States? Private message me about how we are using Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter to find and engage high net worth prospects for our clients. [email protected])
  2. The Facebook Give Button. This button allows organizations to collect money directly on Facebook. While ad targeting is available nearly anywhere in the world, the Give Button is available only in Austria, Australia, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Africa, South Korea, Republic of Cyprus, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom, and the United States. The give button is free.
  3. Facebook Fundraisers. Facebook Fundraisers is a crowdfunding or peer to peer giving tool that enables organizations to mobilize groups around specific fundraising initiatives. In 2017 the tool has raised over $300 million. This product is available in Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom, and the United States. Facebook Fundraisers is free.

Putting it Together for Success

Over the last few years, our digital team at Bentz Whaley Flessner has helped our clients design and implement innovative digital fundraising strategies. Our clients are deploying our strategies and finding many more major gift prospects, warming more existing relationships and increasing base support participation for much less than traditional direct mail or phone methods. If we can help you get your digital fundraising on track, please reach out.

(While the PayPal Giving Fund partnership is only in the UK currently, Facebook is working to expand this and other tools worldwide. If you are located in any of the countries with the Give Button, I'd guess you are next up.) d
