It doesn't feel like there is much of this about at the moment does it?

I know we are in strange times now, but the planned #offpayroll #ir35 changes coming in April are not going to help

In fact I don't know anyone who thinks it's a good idea (just you Rishi?)

They have already had a massive impact on my IT Contracting Academy communities both here on LinkedIn and on Facebook

How do I know this?

Because they share their frustrations & pains each and every day

They can't understand how these measures will positively impact UK Business & Entrepreneurship

All they see is restriction, suffocation and persecution

Can the government not see the signs that this is not working?

Surely the number of Limited Company closures in the UK has exponentially risen over the past year? The numbers must show this surely?

Surely the government can see that Corporation tax from Professional Service Companies (PSCs) has dramatically fallen?

Surely the government can see that the amount of personal tax paid by contractors has dropped off a cliff edge due to contractors not working as frequently, being out of work, going perm for far lower salaries, or just waiting until the current storms pass?

Some have even left this wonderful country in search of freedom elsewhere

Maybe those in power have gone fishing too?

Companies do not seem to be determining #IR35 status at all - most are simply not working with PSCs as a "policy" rather than working with the upcoming changes

They simply don't want to take the risk of getting it wrong for fear of HMRC retribution

And who will suffer?

EVERYONE

• Contractors forced into perm roles "doing as they're told" with no independence, and less remuneration
• Contractors forced to go "inside IR35" and take PAYE roles without any perm benefits
• Contractors who run their own LTDs wanting to build bigger, brighter businesses in future - having their entrepreneurial dreams snuffed out like a match hitting water
• Businesses wanting the best contracting talent out there
• UK plc

We can all see this, so why can't they?

Maybe they will when they return from their fishing trip with the prized catch...
