UK Bill Dube has announced his plans to expand his business!

SOMERSWORTH — KAREN DANDURANT ? Foster's Daily

Debbie Dube Reed, who has taken over Bill Dube Auto in Dover, is looking to expand to Somersworth with a Kia dealership.

"We are a family-owned and operated business," said Dube Reed, who learned to love the business from her dad, who died last year. "My niece works here, and I have two daughters in college that I hope will join us. I know one of them will begin here this summer."

The proposal calls to build a new dealership on a 4-acre site at the corner of Route 108 and Blackwater Road located across the street from a recently closed Key Auto Group dealership.

Reed explained why the business plans to offer Kia vehicles in the new location in Somersworth.

"There were Kia dealerships in Portsmouth and in Somersworth," Reed said. "They were not performing to standards expected so both locations were closed. We have been in business here since 1975, for 49 years. We are now a woman-owned and operated business and we like the product (Kia) so we think we can successfully add it to our line."

The former Kia of Somersworth closed in December 2018.

"Kia did not always have the best product/reputation," Reed said. "There have been a lot of innovation and design changes made, and now we feel it is a product we can get behind and be proud to offer. They are a good quality, reliable, and somewhat more affordable option."

After receiving the city's input, Reed said, the business will prepare a site plan application.

"We hope to break ground early this fall," she said. "It is a 10- to 12-month (project), and we anticipate being open for business sometime in 2025. This will be a nice facility, well maintained. We have been a respected part of the business community for a long time."
