Here at Point Reyes Farmstead Cheese Company, we believe that great cheese is made in the pastures. It's made in the natural grasses and cool ocean breezes on our coastal, Northern California farm. It's made by healthy, pampered and well-fed cows that we raise individually from birth. It's made by hand, by artisan craftspeople. It’s made for the people that love and appreciate great tasting food. It’s a journey that started back in 1904, when our Great Grandfather Tobias Giacomini left Northern Italy to pursue his vision of farming the fabled, fertile lands of California. Fast forward to 1959 when our parents, Bob and Dean, purchased our dairy farm on Tomales Bay and started making milk to sell to the local creamery. By the mid-1990’s, our father had grown the herd to over 500 cows and the farm established a reputation for producing the very highest quality milk. However, a dairy of that size on our property of 720 acres was just too big, causing too much stress on the land environmentally, on our limited natural resources and on the small staff working the farm. But there’s an expression here in the Giacomini family that says, when life gives you four daughters, make cheese. And so, after pursuing various business careers, we came back to help reduce the size of the dairy and transition the business into an artisan farmstead cheesemaking facility. In August of 2000 the first wheels of Original Blue, California’s only classic style blue cheese, were introduced to Bay Area consumers, adding to a family legacy of farming that dates back well over 100 years. Point Reyes Farmstead Cheese Company is our way of carrying on our family heritage, honoring the land we love so much, celebrating our passion for farm fresh food, and sharing it all with the people we consider our extended family – cheese lovers all across the country who can now experience the incredible flavors created from our small, family-run dairy farm.

At this year's ACS 2024 Annual Conference, we had 3 recipients of the Meritorious Service Award. This award was created in 2022 and is presented to ACS Members who have distinguished themselves by outstanding meritorious achievement or service to ACS or the cheese industry as a whole. Juliana Uruburu received one of the Meritorious Service Awards! We are so excited to share that earlier in July, we won 4 AWARDS at the 2024 American Cheese Society Judging and Competition Awards in Buffalo, NY! Point Reyes TomaTruffle brought home the 1st place ribbon for American Originals Flavored Cheese, while Bay Blue took 3rd place in Rinded Blue Mold Cheeses. Additionally, the two newest cheeses in the Point Reyes line-up achieved notable success: Truffle Brie won 2nd place in Soft Ripened Flavored Cheese, and Fennel Blue achieved 3rd place for Flavored Rinded Blue Mold Cheese. Not only it is an honor to be recognized by the?American Cheese Society but being able to celebrate our wins alongside the other awesome cheese producers and artisan makers has us feeling the love.?Shout out to our awesome team for cheering us on via livestream and whose commitment to crafting the best quality, award-winning cheese knows no bounds. #saypointreyescheese

ACS 2024 - great time with our team in Buffalo NY. The level of knowledge at this conference is truly astounding. Congrats to Erin Clancy, ACS CCP for her induction into the Guild De Fromage. Awesome time as well catching up with the fellas! That's a wrap on the 2024 Summer Fancy Food Show in NYC!? We had a great time connecting with long time customers, making new friends, sampling TONS of cheese and getting the chance to show off our brand new items, Fennel Blue and Truffle Brie. ? Thank you to Specialty Food Association for hosting one of the best shows yet. Twenty four years in, there is no trade show quite like it - especially because this year, the electric vibe across the entire Javits Center was palpable, really bringing the entire specialty food world together. We love this community and are beyond grateful to be a part of it.???
