Walt Disney was one of the most original experience designers. Still some instances of his Experience Design methodology stand out most.
Walt would regularly walk around in Disneyland, and buy eatables at the burger stands in the entertainment park. He would wander about Disneyland with Burger like a tourist. And when he finished his Burger, he would call his team to setup a Trashcan in the vicinity. What a wonderful example of experience design!
Walt had experienced huge rejection by his bankers for his Disneyland idea, as no one was ready to gulp down the fact that rides were being planned for adults.?Walt also met the same resistance from his engineers who smacked at the feasibility of designing adult rides (Walt had famously read all required engineering books to overcome these smirking lot - he was one of the best read engineers of his time, though without a degree). However, even when the rides were made, people stayed skeptical. Walt made it a point to be the first rider in each ride. This way he showed his confidence in his own engineering calculations than anyone else. And this also allowed him to remove any issues with the rides before he allowed his visitors to sink their teeth into the ride.
Below is a picture of a Designer trying to look around at Disneyland from the point of view of an 8 year old.

Does this remind you of a certain David Ogilvy?
