UHS systems presented at the Aberdeen EuLAF June 2022.

Attended the SPE Aberdeen EuALF forum and was very encouraged to see that the North Sea sector was still live and prospering. Met old acquaintances and also made new friends. The presentation made on Ultra High Speed (UHS) created a lot of interest as it opened up a whole new world of operating the ESP's at a much higher speed of 12,000 rpm with the consequential advantages of a much wider operating range thus minimising the variety of pumps. The other aspect that was dominant in the forum was the CO2 emission and how to mitigate it. Lex UHS systems operate at a much higher efficiencies thus producing power savings of up to 40%. This has had an impact on the CO2 emission as the physical reduction in size (60%), reduction on electrical power demand, less demanding logistical issues, less rig downtime during installation ( plug and play systems), ability to pass through more severe doglegs and pump setting angles have certainly created great interest and look forward to more interactions to extoll the virtues of UHS systems.
