Uh, it's all about the reader (not you)

I always advise you to speak about the accomplishments and experiences you have gathered and smartly present them on LinkedIn. Your past makes who you are today, and who you may become in the future.

Your reader only wants to know about you from the lens of “what’s in it for them.”

There lies a dilemma: how to tell your career story of why you do what you do and yet appeal to the attention-starved reader’s self-concern?

Here’s a possible answer: You capture their admiration and highlight the meaning of your accomplishments to the client / employer / whomever you worked for, to demonstrate your ability, your contribution, your team effort. You tell the story in a marketing, reader-focused way.

No one should ask why is this important when reading what you have curated and placed on your profile. Period.

Instead, choose to list transferable skills that a new prospect will relate to, no matter their industry. Get recommendations that tell the story when the writer witnessed you achieve that superpower. Be conversant about you. Don’t think that anyone cares about you until you have convinced them to.

Yes, that’s your dilemma.

I achieved it, and so can you, or if you need help, ask.

There's also the fact that you need to write it up with the mindset of not caring if anyone replies, and knowing that someone will. ??
