Update From Our Pro Vice-Chancellor
Since the inception of Vision 2028, the University of East London (UEL) has embarked on a transformative journey to redefine higher education, placing employability and enterprise at the heart of our mission. Through this ambitious strategy, we are ensuring that every graduate is equipped with the skills, confidence, and resilience to thrive in a rapidly evolving global economy. Vision 2028 has not only driven significant advancements in graduate employment outcomes but has also positioned UEL as a leader in innovative career services, both within the UK and internationally.?
? At the core of Vision 2028 is our Mental Wealth and Professional Fitness framework, a ground-breaking feature of every degree programme. These modules embed critical capabilities such as digital proficiency, emotional intelligence, critical thinking, and leadership into academic learning, ensuring students are prepared to succeed in any industry. This framework offers fully integrated career pathways, developed in collaboration with leading employers to combine academic rigour with real-world skills. Employer-led workshops, live industry projects, and internships are seamlessly embedded into our curricula, creating a direct bridge between university and employment.?
Industry engagement remains a cornerstone of Vision 2028. By forging meaningful partnerships with organisations such as NHS England and Morgan Sindall Infrastructure, we align our programmes with the demands of the modern workforce. Our collaboration with Morgan Sindall through the Diversity of Thought Employer Partnership Programme exemplifies this commitment, breaking down barriers to opportunity and fostering inclusivity in competitive industries.?
? UEL’s enterprise and entrepreneurship ecosystem has flourished under Vision 2028, with the TerraDock at the Royal Docks Centre for Sustainability (RDCS) serving as the epicentre of these efforts. TerraDock is home to our dedicated accelerator unit, where a range of programmes are equipping students, graduates, and entrepreneurs to thrive. Together with Middlesex University, we are delivering a Sustainability Accelerator to empower entrepreneurs addressing global environmental challenges.
TerraDock is also home to a dedicated business incubator unit, where 18 new businesses took residence before Christmas. These companies represent the future of enterprise, and we are proud to provide a supportive environment where they can flourish. The incubator offers mentoring, networking, and access to resources, creating a community that champions innovation and entrepreneurship.?
? Additionally, RDCS houses the Millionaires Club, which provides essential support for our students and freelance graduate community. Membership offers access to co-working space at no cost, creating a collaborative environment where ideas can thrive and connections can be forged. This initiative reflects our commitment to empowering the entrepreneurial spirit of our students and alumni, ensuring they have the resources to succeed in competitive markets.?
The University of East London is proud to lead the way in employability innovation. Vision 2028 has provided the foundation for our success, but it is the collective ambition and collaboration of our community that propels us forward. Together, we are shaping a university that transforms lives, empowers communities, and sets new standards for what higher education can achieve. Let us continue to push boundaries, challenge ourselves to go further, and ensure that every UEL graduate leaves with the tools, confidence, and connections to shape their future.?
