UCN proposes launch of new US wholesale price reporting for frozen lobster
Undercurrent News is proposing the implementation of weekly US wholesale price reporting for the frozen lobster markets. We are gathering industry participant feedback to ensure these assessments align with market needs.
The UCN price assessments will represent products from the most significant trade partners to the US and reflect trade from the importer to the first receiver.
The proposed specifications will cover a range of lobster products with a focus on key categories, such as lobster tails and lobster meat. Details of the coverage are outlined below:
Sample proposed product coverage:
Market specifications: The price reporting will focus on ex-warehouse pricing for frozen lobster products.
Quotation series: Prices will reflect less-than-truckload (LTL) volumes, expressed in $/lb. This will provide buyers, sellers, traders, and market participants with a comprehensive understanding of market values at key points in the supply chain.
This initiative aims to provide valuable and independent price benchmarks for the lobster industry, complementing our established reputation as a credible global seafood news supplier. With nearly 3,000 data sets across key species, this new service will further strengthen our offerings.
UCN is also planning to initiate US wholesale price coverage of various groundfish, shrimp, farmed whitefish, and scallop products,?as announced on?Oct. 31,?Nov. 4, Nov. 11, and Nov. 15.?
