UCMP Members Reap Big At EAPCE23

By UCMP Editorial Team

“It was an opportunity for us to engage with new clients and cement our relationship with the old ones. It has paid off.”

That is a summary description of what the members of the Uganda Chamber of Mines and Petroleum (UCMP) shared with us when we asked them about their experience with the 3-day, 10th East African Petroleum and Exhibition Conference that happened at Serena Hotel from May 9-11.?A total of 58 exhibitors mainly trading in the oil and gas sector showcased their goods and services – a good number of these were members of UCMP – that interfaced with several visitors to their booth. The conference attracted a total of 1, 200 participants from 20 countries.

Humphrey Asiimwe, the Chief Executive Officer of UCMP said, “It gives me happiness to hear that our members were able to interact with potential new clients but also cement their relationship with their existing customers. As a Chamber, we will continue to provide such opportunities for our members to exploit to be able to grow their businesses to greater heights.”

Asiimwe added, “When our members grow, they create opportunities for the people and the economy to thrive.”

What Our Members Said?

Minet: It has been a great opportunity for us given that as risk advisers and insurers, we play a very critical role when it comes to mitigating risks for players in different sectors, especially logistics. We received many visitors asking us about Marine Insurance and other covers. We will make follow-ups.

Kenya Commercial Bank: It was a good experience for us. We received many business owners asking about the different bank accounts that we have for them to open and bank with us. Others were seeking information about our loan facilities, which we offered. Some were individuals inquiring about account opening. We believe the oil and gas sector is big and this exhibition has given us a chance to enhance our brand awareness and get contacts to follow up for business.

Equity Bank: We got the opportunity to interact with both Ugandans and non-Ugandans during the three-day exhibition. We received investors asking about the different financial and non-financial services that we offer; students and individuals wanting to open a bank account. Going forward, we will have a mini-branch next time so we are able to handle all the inquiries on-site in addition to making follow-ups after the event.

Bar Aviation: We have been busy receiving people here asking about our service. We have noted their contacts and we are going to touch base with them and offer the service they need. Going forward, we want to urge the organisers to plan for one-on-one business meetings for us to be able to close some deals on-site.

Bollore Logistics: This has been a good opportunity for networking with potential clients and telling them about our business and the opportunities that we offer. We look forward to continuing to participate in similar events and following regular communication from the UCMP.?

NCBA: It gave us a platform to create awareness of who we are and the different products that we offer. We were able to create more awareness about our brand amongst the East African Community people. We have been able to put out information about our popular Vehicle and Asset Finance product, trade finance, insurance, and other products.??
