UC Leuven-Limburg @ NIBS Worldwide Case Competition

Last week I attended the 25th annual NIBS Worldwide Case Competition organized by Heilbronn University of Applied Sciences in Künzelsau, Germany.

For Dante Beddegenoots, Arne Hendrickx, Sebastian Van Laer and Kyle Vanlerberghe, 4 students representing UC Leuven-Limburg at this case competition, was it an inspiring and educational week full of new experiences. Their well-delivered performance made a favourable impression on me and on the members of the jury. In just a few days’ time, their learning curve grew exponentially. Reading and solving cases improved their problem-solving and analytical thinking, their critical and outside-the-box thinking, their cultural insights and business acumen, their teamwork, their communication and presentation skills. Students have a limited time to analyse written business cases, assess the challenges facing the organization, and present recommendations to panels of senior managers, policymakers and academics.

The case method in general, and a case competition specifically, is the perfect tool to acquire all these skills and competences. I would like to thank the Network of International Business Schools (@NIBS) and @UCLL for offering students worldwide the opportunity to participate in such a great event. As a coach for almost 15 year, I know that these competitions bring students to a higher level and that it is the perfect way to prepare them for their professional career.
