UBX develops Palarong Pambansa App in 4 weeks

The annual Palarong Pambansa, a multi-sport event organized by DepEd (Department of Education), brings together student-athletes from across the Philippines. This year, Cebu City, the host municipality, aimed to elevate the experience for players and attendees by leveraging technology.

A major pain point for past Palarong Pambansa events was access to real-time information. Updates on game schedules and venue changes were primarily disseminated through the event website and social media, which often proved to be cumbersome and lacked mobile-friendliness.

Solution

UBX, the digital development arm of Aboitiz Group’s UnionBank, and Aboitiz Power partnered with the Cebu LGU (Local Government Unit) to create a solution. Within a remarkable timeframe of just one month, they developed the first-ever Palarong Pambansa App.
