UberCloud Compendium With 10 Energy Case Studies

This new UberCloud Compendium contains 10 case studies on 50 pages which are related to the Energy sector, selected from the 220 UberCloud Experiment projects performed so far, including applications from oil & gas, mining, electrical, geo-thermal, wind, and water power, and turbines and electrical power transformers. In each of the case studies, we document the results of the engineering teams, their findings, challenges, lessons learned, and recommendations.

 The UberCloud Experiment started in July 2012, with a discussion about cloud adoption in technical computing and a long list of cloud computing challenges and their potential solutions. We decided to explore these further, hands-on, and the idea of the UberCloud Experiment was born.

Our efforts paid off quickly. Based on the experience gained in the early years, we were able to increase the success rate of the individual HPC Cloud experiments in 2015 to almost 100%, as compared to 40% in 2013 and 60% in 2014. Also in 2015, we reached an important milestone when we introduced our UberCloud HPC software container technology. Use of these containers by the teams dramatically improved and shortened project times from an average of three months to just a few days.

interesting use case 'Overhead Power Lines Lifespan Assessment in Preventive Maintenance' which is basically a Digital Twin. IMO it could be augmented using ML to also take into account maintenance/repair records in order to be used as a full fledged predictive analytics tool
