UAV MAPPING!

Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) mapping using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) is a cutting-edge technique that integrates aerial data collection with spatial analysis to create detailed and accurate maps. This method leverages the capabilities of UAVs, commonly known as drones, and GIS software to capture, process, and analyze geospatial data for a variety of applications. InfoTech provides post processing (data processing) services for UAV mapping data.

Data Processing

Image Stitching and Orthomosaic Creation:

Photogrammetry Software: Software such as Pix4D or Agisoft Metashape processes the captured images, stitching them together to create an orthomosaic – a highly detailed and geometrically corrected image.

Geo-referencing: Using GCPs and image metadata, the orthomosaic is aligned with real-world coordinates, ensuring spatial accuracy.

3D Modeling:

Point Cloud Generation: For LiDAR data, point clouds are generated representing the 3D surface of the mapped area.

Digital Elevation Models (DEMs): These models represent the terrain’s surface, providing elevation data crucial for various analyses.

Layer Creation: Different layers are created to represent various features such as vegetation, buildings, water bodies, and elevation.

Spatial Analysis:

Feature Extraction: Tools within the GIS software allow for the extraction of specific features from the imagery, such as identifying vegetation types or detecting changes over time.

Analysis: Advanced spatial analysis can be performed, including terrain analysis, hydrological modeling, and land use classification.

Visualization:

2D and 3D Maps: The GIS software enables the creation of detailed 2D and 3D maps, which can be used for presentations, decision-making, and further research.

Interactive Maps: Web-based GIS platforms allow for the creation of interactive maps that can be shared and explored by users online.
