The UAE's Booming Tourism Industry
Over the past decade, the UAE's tourism sector has experienced significant growth, as indicated by the Department of Economy and Tourism's report on the 14.36 million international overnight visitors to Dubai in 2022.
The UAE's tourism industry remains a significant driver of economic growth and development, with a goal of attracting 40 million hotel guests by 2031 under the new UAE Tourism Strategy 2031. In addition, the influx of tourists has benefited the property sector, as developers have invested in construction projects catering to the rising demand for real estate, creating five-star hotels, resorts, and luxury communities.
The tourism industry has also created jobs for both locals and expats, with the number of tourism-related jobs reaching pre-pandemic levels. Furthermore, tourism has driven infrastructure development, such as the Palm Jumeirah monorail and the Etihad Rail megaproject, which will transport passengers by 2030.
