UAE workers can apply for one year of paid leave to set up their own firm in 2023

The UAE has introduced a scheme that gives workers a year off if they leave to set up a business. The UAE government has enacted the Entrepreneurship Leave for Self-employment program for UAE national federal government employees from January 2, 2023.

The entrepreneurship leave for self-employment scheme aims to empower UAE nationals and motivate them to set up their own companies. The initiative is available to UAE national employees working in federal government institutions.

The employee is provided one paid year of entrepreneurship leave for self-employment in order to establish or handle his economic project. Qualified candidates will be paid half of their regular pay during the sabbatical.

The Entrepreneurship Leave for Self-employment embodies the UAE leadership's pioneering vision, which strives to urge national cadres to enter the realm of business. Entrepreneurship leaves for self-employment provide residents with incentives to develop innovative ideas and businesses that help to improve the economy and support the UAE.

The Federal Authority for Government Human Resources has also prepared a detailed guide for economic projects and establishments that contribute to the revitalization of the country's economy, including details that help the authorities when considering their employees' requests for Entrepreneurship Leave for self-employment in collaboration with the Ministries of Economy, Human Resources, and Emiratisation.
