Mine was amazing!

I flew from Buenos Aires, Argentina to San Antonio, Texas to visit my extended family for two weeks.

We talked, laughed, ate Texas barbeque, played video games and enjoyed each other’s company.

My two nephews have grown a lot in the last year and they’re quickly becoming young men!

Where am I going with this?

Well, I almost didn’t go.

Why?

Because I told myself it would be too disruptive to my work schedule and it was too expensive.

I mean, I had the money to do it. But it just felt expensive and a big hassle. It didn’t feel like it was the right time.

But I was wrong.

These past two weeks was EXACTLY what I needed.

But how often do we know in our hearts what we need to do but decide against it because we find a way to rationalize the decision?

“It’s too expensive.” “It’s not the right time.” “I’ll do it next year.”

All BS excuses to avoid feeling uncomfortable.

This is how you miss out on life. This is how you end up full of regret. This is the path that leads to unhappiness.

The end of the year is one of those magical moments where we feel like we have a fresh start. It feels like we have another chance to be a better version than who we were last year.

2- The secret to muscle growth (weight vs. reps)

A recent study measured whether adding more weight or performing more reps with the same weight led to better for strength and muscle gains.

So researchers had study participants single leg extensions using more weight on one leg and performing more reps with the other leg.

The result?

There were differences after 10 weeks in strength or muscle size.

This confirms what we’ve known for a while:

You must improve your performance to boost strength or build muscle. But you can achieve it in different ways.

Keep in mind that there is nuance here. But if you’re just getting started, know that adding reps when you don’t have access or feel comfortable lifting more weight is equally effective for making progress!

  1. Choose a light resistance band.
  2. Position: All fours.
  3. Action: Extend your hip, focus on glute squeeze.
