No U Turn Ahead

No U Turn Ahead

By Anthony Nolan

Will your children's children recognise today's world as theirs?

Our climate is changing. Forget about if it has happened on Earth over the eons that have past. That is not as important, as the facts of what it is happening now. Yes, we need to recognise and learn from the past, but the past is missing one important factor, us!

This is not about if humans are the cause of climate change, etc. What is more important is how soon our technology and supply chains will fail us, in times ahead.

You will notice that even with today's slight weather changes, that many of our logistics and supply systems fail. In some cases this has lead to death, as well as every event has a cost to both the individuals and the public purse. Either with damage & repair, to provision of support services and community health and safety.

We know by the history of our planet, this is nothing new. We also know that what ever the cause, both natural emissions and artificial emissions contribute in some way. You in Australia, you can see nature changing all around us. Christmas bush, which used to flow at Christmas, not does so in October. Animals producing off spring in late Spring is now occurring earlier in Spring. There are many more signs, from the increasing density of weeds (C4 planets that are better for the planet on the whole), to droughts, extended days in weather patterns, etc. The natural system of systems that controls the balance for the environment of the planet, is no longer undertaking slight adjustments......

We are in a cycle of environmental change, and our much of our technology and systems are starting to struggle, and we are just at the start of that cycle of change.

Nobody really knows if we can change, divert, or slow down this change, and even if we could, we are a fractured species, with much views, political, and self interests. You only have to look at the Green Movement and their attempts in Terra-forming our planet. Either in trying to turn back the clock on a small piece of land, which causes more damage to the local environment, trying to save an mentally pleasing environment

So What Next?

I'm not sure if there is really an answer for this. I think for me it is research the best technology there is, that is least effected by the climate. Teach your kids ways to achieve things with limited or not technology, as as with it. Don't depend on Air Conditioning, and other environment softening technology. Because how will you fair when it fails?

I think my final comment would be, Don't take the weather or the environment for granted, keep an eye on it and stay keen!
