The typical password pattern

The typical password pattern

I just watched a comedian (Michael McIntyre) tell about passwords. I laughed and could predict the next phase of his show, since we've all been there. People simply aren't that original about password creation. Read and think when you find yourself.

When internet became popular, we were for the first time asked to create a password. We did, we loved it and frankly used it for all the sites that we were accessing. We thought it was unique and safe. Our precious little secret. Nobody could take it away from us and everything was good.

Out of the blue, someone had the idea, that you need to have A capital letter in the password. We though about this additional step for a second and. We all capitalized the first letter. What a relief. Password is unique and safe again.

But no, it needed to continue. Now you need a number in the password. Millisecond later, you've added a 1 to the end of your password. Good that unique thinking go us out of that one. Nobody can guess the word now.

Lately with all the online shopping and amount of new sites we visit, they came up with something new. A special character is now required. What is a special character? We look for the help, view our options. Skimming through all the nice characters, we all stop at the same time and fall in love with what we see. The exclamation mark! We have been able again create a new secure Password1!

The comedian was Michael McIntyre. You remember the names like you remember your passwords. ;)
