A typical day in the life of a home care nurse at HomeNurse4U
It was a typical day in the life of Ratnaree, a home health nurse from HomeNurse4U in Thailand. She had been assigned to a clinical trial for a #rareDisease that involved #homeNursing. She took time to prepare for the visit and was eager to get started.
As Ratnaree drove to (?)Mary’s home for the first time, she felt excited and nervous; wanted to make sure she could provide the best care possible and at the same time make the best impression of herself. She understood that as Mary was suffering from a rare disease, she required some amount of extra care from her.
When Ratnaree arrived, she was greeted warmly by Mary and her family. Ratnaree explained the clinical trial and briefed Mary and her family about the protocol. Ratnaree’s training in #regulatoryRequirements and guidelines, such as ICH, GCP, and IATA ensured that she was the ideal candidate to perform all required procedures appropriately.
She reassured the family that Mary would be closely monitored, and she also explained the schedule for future regular home visits. She also talked to Mary about her condition and any concerns she had and provided emotional and mental support, to the level she was trained to do. She gave comfort to Mary and the family members and developed a really good relationship with them. This helped Mary and the family to share important information about Mary’s health without any hesitation.
She performed basic #nursing duties such as taking vital signs and providing medication. The trial required the collection of #PatientReportedOutcomes (PROs), for which Ratnaree aided Mary to complete the questionnaires, when necessary, but being cautious not to influence the data. She also explained the importance of timely data collection and helped the family members to report their feedback in #ObserverReportedOutcome (ObsRO) questionnaires.
