Is there a typical day?

Is there a typical day?

This was a question my weekly accountability partner and I recently asked ourselves.

Our conversation turned into a deeper discussion around what we’re asking our coaching and advising clients to push them, make them think differently, help them make better decisions.

Ideally, I’m always looking to ask the curious, open-ended questions that will get my coaching clients to see what’s possible and share out loud.

With that in mind, I wanted to share a list of questions to help you think and see what’s possible. I’m curious, what other open-ended questions would you add?

  • How does an ideal day look?
  • How does a typical day look?
  • Why is your ideal day different from your typical day?
  • What takes you away from your ideal day?
  • Is it possible to have consistent ideal days? What can you do to get there?
  • What are you going to stop doing, start doing, and continue doing?
  • What does the business require from you as the leader to be successful?
  • Are you that person?
  • What kind of leader does your organization need in two years?
  • What do you need to do to become that leader?

My thanks to Rick Coplin for the discussion that resulted in the above questions, and for always showing up each week to push, encourage, and support me.

To your success.

Joel, Excellent reflection on our conversations. You challenge, push, and encourage me consistently. Thank you. One question I'll add related to the last four in the list above is this: "?????? ???????? ???????? ???????? ???????????? ?????????? ???????? ??????????????????, ?????? ???????? will ?????? ?????????? ???????? ???????? ???? ???? ?????? ???????????? ???????? ???????????????" Actively seeking team input on our performance, strengths, ?????? weaknesses enables us to be honest with ourselves. It also makes it possible to identify areas of leadership we can hand off to our team so that 1) we free ourselves to be the leader the business requires; 2) we open the doors of opportunity for a team member to grow and perform, perhaps even better than ourselves. In both instances, the business has better opportunities to prosper. Rick
