Types of Winter Jackets: Stay Warm in Style

It’s amazing to think that we’re already halfway through the year, but here we are! Now is the time for those of us in the Northern Hemisphere to start thinking about what winter jackets customers are going to be wearing this winter. As you start thinking about what to stock up on, we are already ahead of the game. At Loto Garment our designers and planners have been using their European contacts to stay up to date with the fashion trends that will be shaping outdoor winter wardrobes. Here are some of the different types of winter jackets that will keep your customers looking stylish and feeling warm.

Women’s Light Down Jacket

First up, we have this striking and practical down jacket for women . A bold colour is better for visibility in poor weather conditions and this jacket certainly stands out with this strong aquamarine blue.

It features a stylish offset padded design that draws inspiration from emerging trends in Europe. The body, sleeve, hood, and collar are filled with fake down to keep the wearer warm. The outer shell is made from water-resistant 140gsm 100% Polyester Pongee that is PFC-free. That hood can be zipped off when it’s not needed, but when it’s on the wearer can pull on the woven tape to adjust it for a tighter fit, and combined with the high neck at the front of this winter jacket the opening can be shrunk to really keep the wearer cosy.

We’ve tested the waterproofing to 8,000mm, but it can keep up to 10,000mm of heavy rain at bay while remaining breathable to 3,000g. It’s the perfect combination of good looks, protection, and comfort.

The soft down feathers of geese have a long history of being used for insulation in the harsh Arctic climate, but technological advances and customers’ animal welfare concerns have driven a shift towards artificial down, which is why we use it in many of our products.

Ladies Puffer Jacket

I know what you’re thinking. How can this be called a ‘ladies’ light puffer jacket,’ when it doesn’t have lots of big puffy ribs on the outside that look like they’ve been inflated? Well, the answer is that they’re on the inside! It still has that signature puffer jacket look but the insulating ribs are closer to the wearer’s body.

This version of one of our jackets retains the stylish good looks but cuts them down to a fashionable waist-high version that is sure to be popular with the kind of buyer who likes to show off their midsection in the summer.

The shell fabric is made from a TPU white membrane that’s waterproof to 8,000mm thanks to a water-repellent coating and breathable to 800g. We’ve made it from 20% recycled polyester and 80% polyester and lined it with 100% 290T polyester taffeta. The zippers are also waterproof for keeping essentials dry and we’ve added Lycra cuffs for a snug fit at the wrists and plenty of insulation to the attached hood. It's filled with fake down, but we can change it to real, ethically sourced down if you prefer.

Looks-wise, it has a very in-fashion reflective tape added to the chest on the right and black accents added for contrast to the vertical pockets. It’s good-looking, light, and practical, so sure to be a hit with buyers this winter.

Long Winter Vest

One of the most striking fashions to emerge recently is the long puffer-style coat without arms. This long winter vest ?captures the look perfectly.

For those who really want to stand out, we’ve given them the option of a blazing orange which is hard to miss, and then more subdued tones like olive green and black. But whatever colour they choose, fashion-conscious customers will be well served by this design.

The shell fabric is made from 125g, water-resistant polyester (we can use recycled if required), with TPU lamination of 5k/5k, and it is PFC-free. We filled it with heavyweight 340g fake down for maximum protection in the cold weather. It doesn’t have a hood, but then that’s part of the look. We’ve tested the waterproofing to 5,000mm, but it will handle heavy rain to 10,000mm. Fabric breathability is rated to 5,000g, for comfort that customers will appreciate, and it comes with 35cm slits secured with press buttons along the back sides that can be opened and closed for extra comfort.

Windcheater

This style of windcheater for winter ?ticks all the right boxes for fashion-conscious customers. ‘Windcheater’ is a British English term. Americans called them ‘windbreakers’, and either term is usually used to describe a wind-resistant jacket with a close-fitting neck, waistband,

and cuffs. The outer shell of this one is made from 165g polyester and has 8k/3k TPU lamination. It has a water-resistant finish and is free from any PFCs. The lining is made from 60g, 290T polyester taffeta and we have insulated it with 80g regular wadding with a quilted lining for the body and hood. The sleeves are 60g and the hood is fixed with a cord for adjustment.

This will serve customers well through the first cold and blustery days of late autumn all the way through to the spring. It’s snug and comfortable, offering great protection against the elements. Polyester is a popular modern lightweight fabric that’s highly durable, and we can make this coat from recycled polyester if you want to boost your environmentally friendly credentials amongst your customers.

This design has been confirmed as waterproof through testing to 8,000mm (thanks in part to the use of taped seems), but it is good to 10,000mm of water, so customers can venture out even in heavy rain showers with the utmost confidence in its protective abilities. It has a breathability rating of 3,000g, but we can raise this to 5,000g for the ultimate in comfort. Speaking of comfort, we have quilted the body and hood lining for additional warmth and cosiness. We used thick thread for the topstitching and added a drawstring with stoppers for waist adjustment for the perfect fit.

Women’s Down Winter Coat

Down coats are widely renowned for their excellent insulation properties. This women’s down winter coat ?excels at keeping the wearer comfortable in the worst weather that winter has to offer while also ensuring they look stylish. ?

It has a lovely, quilted look that gives a strong visual clue about how warm it is. The elegant high waist is topped off with a matching belt that can be tied at the front, and the fixed hood is well-insulated to keep out the fiercest of winds.

It’s another great example of what can be done with polyester. It’s water resistant to 5k/3k, and we’ve insulated it with fake down that gives unparalleled warmth. The lining is made from 94% polyester and 6% elastane, and we fitted elasticated bands to the sleeve cuffs.

Insulated Running Jacket

For all those brave souls who like to venture out into the cold winter air to exercise we created this insulated running jacket .

This kind of jacket has been gaining popularity in recent years, as retailers and designers have recognised that just because customers are looking to get sweaty, it doesn’t mean that they don’t want to look good. If anything, the kind of people who want to keep their bodies in good shape are just as particular about their clothes.

This winter we recommend that you add this design to your stock. It’s made from

100% nylon with added waterproofing and 100% recycled Thermore fake down insulation. The fixed hood is elasticated for a snug fit in fierce winter weather, and we also used elastication at the waist and sleeves to provide a perfect seal against the elements while preserving ease of movement. As you can see from the images below. the workmanship is very neat with all seems feature attractive-looking fabric piping.

Those brave souls who like to venture out into the cold winter air to exercise still want protection, so we added water resistance tested to 5,000mm, (although it can handle heavy rain up to 8,000mm) and thanks to the 3,000g breathability rating of the fabric, perspiration will pass away from the runner’s body so that it's always cool and comfortable to wear.
