Insidious work that destroys team productivity
When it comes to productivity, the most difficult challenge that teams face is reactive work.
That's reactive work meaning these are urgent tasks that are put on your team’s plate that they don't have control over. So, they're in constant response mode.
They're responding to emails, they’re responding to instant messages, they're working on tasks that didn't originate with them.
So, they're just responding to the world.
And yes, this is part of working in an organization or responding to customers but that really deep high-value work, the proactive work, the work that's part of your own legacy.
Your team's legacy is proactive work.
It requires time away, it requires blocked off time to focus with intention on the goals set by you and the broader organization.
So today, what are you doing to help your team's productivity?
By focusing on the proactive work and giving them a break from the reactive work.
