two years of Daily Notes

two years of Daily Notes

Today, two years ago, I wrote and shared my first Daily Note.

I didn’t set out with any goals other than to start writing to reflect on my mediations during our end-of-the-year vacation.

I had no idea how long I’d keep writing—I’ve been known to try something, do it for a while, and then move on to the next creative idea. But, here I am hitting publish on Daily Note #730 with only one “miss” in the last two years…January 2nd, 2023, which was the day I drove nineteen hours straight to get home from Marco Island.

As I head into 2025, I will continue to put no pressure on the Daily Note–if I ever wake up one morning and don’t have anything I feel worthy of sharing, I won’t write, but I don’t think that will be an issue. It won’t be an issue because just as when I started these Daily Notes, I’m still writing them every morning without planning the night prior; I feel like the Universe is using me to translate messages it wants to share–oftentimes, these messages double as a note written to my Self. Many of the Daily Notes are basically journal entries allowing me to process what is going on at that moment in my life. I hit publish, hoping someone out there would find some value in what I had to share with my Self that day.

I am going to try a few new things with the Daily Note.

First, I will change my morning routine to get back to meditating each morning PRIOR to my writing. 2024 was a significant year of personal growth, and I have a feeling that 2025 is going to bring even more growth and understanding. I want to get back to an official daily download from the Universe–I feel I’m still “downloading” each note, but there isn’t always an official transmission from the Universe to me as I might meditate later in the morning or sometimes not at all.

Secondly, and another reason for switching up when I do my writing, I will record a short episode for the LifeDesign+ podcast each day, expanding on the Daily Note. My goal is to record the podcast immediately after writing so I can continue with the energy that created the Note. These episodes should be between 5-10 minutes—quick episodes to complement your daily reading and hopefully bring the message to more people, as the statistics suggest more people listen to podcasts than read blogs.

I’m going to treat these daily podcast episodes just like my Daily Notes–no pressure to record and no goal to maintain a consecutive streak. These episodes won’t end up on YouTube, at least not anytime soon, as I don’t want to be responsible for editing, uploading, etc. I want to do a quick raw audio recording and get to the next part of my day—my morning routine with the boys. The daily podcast may continue infinitely as long as I keep writing the Daily Notes, or it might last a week—I’m excited to see where these episodes go. These episodes won’t end up on YouTube, at least not anytime soon, as I don’t want to be responsible for editing, uploading, etc. I want to do a quick raw audio recording and get to the next part of my day—my morning routine with the boys.

I hope to record a couple of these while down in Jamaica to jump-start the episodes for the new year, but I make no promises ??.

Thanks to my good friend Ashby Daniels for the idea and encouragement!

Today’s note might lack a “message”, but I felt the need to reflect and celebrate something that has become an enjoyable part of my life and has provided me with so many great exchanges with readers over the last couple of years.

I do think there is a takeaway, though…

The Daily Notes started as a creative idea and something I just did because I felt I was supposed to do it. I didn’t start writing to improve my SEO, gain new clients, or grow my audience—I started writing because it was something I enjoyed, and my intuition told me to start and stick with it.

There are infinite possibilities for what the Daily Notes and the new podcast might bring about. They range from having the number one podcast in the world, a massive increase in the number of people looking to find and live their authentic life by working with me, and a world tour for speaking to continuing to write and record each day for the two thousand or so folks who have joined me in the last couple of years to anything in between the two.

And I’m okay with whatever happens.

So the takeaway is, do that creative thing you’re being called to do. Do it without any expectation. Do it for as long as you feel called to do it. And see what happens.

Thank you to everyone reading this Note and everyone who has ever hit reply and shared stories from your life!!

I hope we have many more years of Daily Notes together! See you tomorrow and keep pursuing,

JC
