Two Year Birthday Blog!
Happy Birthday to me!
Today marks 2 years since I started with Eurobase and it’s fair to say it’s been a relatively normal and uneventful period (insert Pinocchio emoji here!).
Looking back to day one, it would have been impossible to predict what was about to happen, and the overwhelming impact COVID would have on our lives, with the effects felt in every corner of the world. I caught up with an old contact who I’ve known for many years recently, and she described my time here so far as “crisis management” which at first sounded strange. We’ve been back in the office for the majority of the time, gone through a successful restructure and been able to grow the business into new tech and territories – is that a crisis? However, when I think back, there have been a plethora of challenges that none of us had previously experienced or been remotely prepared for, which has definitely given cause to some darker and more stressful moments (although we don’t tend to share these as openly on LinkedIn!). I wonder how all of us will reflect on 2020/2021 in the years to come and just hope that we can finally begin to put this period behind us.
As I said, reflecting on my first 2 years, I am proud at what we have achieved and the strong foundations we have put into place. The office and working environment are unrecognisable from a few years ago, and I am thrilled that so many fantastic individuals have leapt aboard to help us continue the journey! That doesn’t mean that we’ve “cracked” it as there is still so much to achieve - we will continue striving to build an organisation that we are proud to be a part of, and that our clients and candidates get real value from working with.

The business today is in a healthy place. The outstanding support I’ve received from the Eurobase group has enabled me to invest in so many areas – I’ve mentioned some of the talent I’ve been able to bring into the business, but we’ve also invested heavily in our tech, giving our recruiters the tools to be as successful as possible in what is a crazy (candidate short) market. Staff engagement and wellbeing remain a key priority, and I’m excited to see our incentives become bigger and better, with our next one launching soon being the most inclusive yet. I’m also proud that as a team we have selected our first charity partner, the Indee Rose Trust and am excited (if also a little apprehensive) at the events and activities we’ll be partaking in as the year progresses!
It certainly feels to me that we are entering the most exciting phase as we start to ramp up our growth over the next 2 years. The focus on our L&D and talent functions will enable us to not only secure top talent, but also to nurture and develop our existing team to allow them to fulfil their career aspirations right here at Eurobase.
So overall, like I said at the top, just a normal and non-eventful journey so far! Here’s to the next 2 years!
