?? Two Ways To Live
There are really only two ways to live.
From love and fulfilment and the knowing within you.
Or from the belief in lack and separation and appearances.
In other words, either living and leading from the heart or being led by the mind.
One way frees us to live in flow with life (ourself) from the understanding that flow is natural and that whatever we’d Love is a done deal...
Provided we’re willing to accept the desire and stay true to it.... (instead of resisting or conditioning it or denying it with the mind and conflicting narratives)...
Because there’s so much more to life and to us than we can ever be conscious of or detect with our physical senses.
That's the entire point of the GAME of life.
There’s a whole ‘meta' physical and unseen reality at play…. our imagination and our thoughts and feelings included.
We may never pause to question the origin of our thoughts or feelings or pause to recognise we're not them.
We may not question where ideas come from or what our feelings and imagination really are but we’d be wise to.
Just as we're wise to know that whatever it is we’d Love is not random!
Although we are free to resist, reject or accept any or all of our desires.
And we're free to believe our thoughts and feelings and we're free to moderate our desires based on believing what our mind tells us.
Rowing with Pure Intention..
Living from the heart and in flow with life means being fully committed to what we'd love yet without any attachment.
Attachment isn't love. Attachment comes from need and this comes from fear and lack. Attachment is resistance.
Living in alignment with what we'd love is equivalent to rowing our boat downstream with pure intention.
Going with the power of the river and intuitively using our oars to steer whilst enjoying the journey.
And knowing that whenever the water gets a little, or even a lot choppy, which it sometimes does...
That we suffer only to the degree we resist the present moment.
Without resistance to what is, there is no suffering.
When we live from Love, we remember how it is that we really create our experiences.
That it's not about what we do but about what we're unified with.
We remember the mind projects experience of what we're accepting and believing.
So, if the water becomes choppy, the key is to allow ourself to feel what we feel but not identify with whatever's going on...
Because then we're free to realign the bow of our boat with what we love.
And, when we live from the heart, we know - even when we may not understand 'why' what's showing up is showing up - that everything, no matter how contrary it appears to be and no matter how painful, is somehow always working in our favour.
And we can return to our natural state of flow and fulfilment, remaining aligned with and committed to our vision and intentions whilst allowing how we're then moved by the power of the river.
The other way to live is much more popular but it's not natural..
Which is to live from the subtle (or less subtle) fear of 'non-fulfilment'.
Which typically leads the belief that we have to or must work hard, strive, overcome obstacles and get things right in order to experience or have what we’d love.
Which - precisely because of what’s always playing out 'meta' physically - means we create this as our experience!
Because we always get the experience of what we're believing to be true...
And whatever we're resisting shows us what we're believing.
Living this way is equivalent to rowing our boat upstream against the current.
As such, we may feel like we’re constantly having to pull on the oars to get somewhere.
Or that our fulfilment and happiness and peace is just around the next bend in the river.
And we suffer the inevitable consequences of our resistance and non-acceptance of what we’d love (which is ultimately our non-acceptance of ourself).
We may suffer emotionally, physically, financially, relationally, etc.
And yet the 'dis-ease' we may feel as a consequence of our resistance is an intelligent signal from Love.
A signal encouraging us to turn around and remember who we are and how we create experience.
Yet if we ignore this, the 'dis-ease' we feel manifests itself in any number of ways... including in the form of more similar experiences or as 'disease' or sickness.
Salmon provide us with a clue about striving...?
The stats vary but approx 90% - 95% of salmon die soon after swimming upstream and spawning.
Salmon don't have a choice on how to live but we're not salmon.
We have the ability to choose whatever we can imagine and for good reason...
Unlike other creatures who don't have the ability to choose, we're powerful creators and we're 100% free.
We're free to choose and create any experience we can possibly imagine.
Experience follows what we're choosing AND accepting.
We may have accepted at an early age that striving and rowing upstream are necessary for success or even admirable..
And therefore they are necessary for our success and our self-worth... but not because this is true.
Experience simply follows what we've accepted.
In striving, we deny and attempt to go against our own nature and in doing so, we limit the expression of more of our potential and experiencing more of what we'd love.
And inevitably we miss much of the joy and the gift of the journey.
We may even believe we need to fix or heal ourself to get what we want and, if we accept this story, then this becomes our experience... but not because it's true.
In rowing upstream, we may be on high alert for 'rocks' in the water and we may therefore struggle to be fully present in our life.
Or we may find we're constantly postponing or moderating our dreams or conditioning our fulfilment... with stories about our past or others or ourself..
Whilst believing and accepting our mind's reasoning and believing our stories are true!
Another consequence of being led by the mind is that we may live with the ‘contracted feeling’ that comes with wanting to loosen our grip on the oars but somehow finding it impossible to let go or let go for long...
It just doesn’t feel safe to let go.
It doesn't feel safe to no longer get in our own way!
Thankfully, switching 'operating models’ is much simpler than it may appear when we’re so busy rowing upstream.
When we’re living in fear of non-fulfilment (or fear of judgement) or we believe our self-worth or safety and security is at stake, it just doesn’t feel safe to stop rowing or to stop trying to control things.
It doesn't feel safe to trust our natural ability.
Because we’re literally blinded by and bound by our perceptions and beliefs.
Yet, if we could see that no matter how much we imagine, visualise, believe, assume, affirm, want or focus on our vision, desires and goals….
No matter how many strategies, processes, tactics, techniques, teachers, gurus or coaches we may try.
Or how hard we may work…. or row....
The boat is only ever moving to the degree that the underlying structure of our consciousness is shifting.
Why?
Because we are the power.
And because the world we live in is mental.
As Albert Einstein said, 'the illusion is powerful' but the science is very clear...
And it's all the more clear in the 70 years since his death.
What appears physical and solid isn’t at all.
It’s all a mental projection of what we're accepting as true.
We only experience the contents of our own consciousness.... and there's no such thing as an objective experience.
Which isn't just mind-blowing, it’s liberating and exciting.
Because it's the truth that liberates the mind from the job it didn't sign up for...
And which frees the heart to take it's rightful place as the leader in our life.
And then we know we can let go of the seeking and striving and so much of what we've accepted to be true until now.
We can let go of rowing upstream and we can live from the knowing in and courage of our heart with the mind faithfully following.
Instead of letting the mind lead us.
Then we recognise we don’t need to change or improve or fix or strive to make anything happen.
We don't need to change anything or anyone out there at all.
We can see that such beliefs and assumptions are precisely what’s in our way!
We're looking in the mirror of our perceptions.
And then we can see the madness of chasing happiness or expecting greater fulfilment to be possible in the future.
We can see that wanting things to be different only creates an experience in which we want things to be different!
And when we recognise what science now confirms - which is that Love is the underlying fabric and structure of reality expressing unconditionally in the mind - it explains so much!
It lets us see that it's never been about striving or changing or improving or figuring out what or how.
We can have this as our experience but only because the Love that we are is unconditional and gives us the experience of whatever we're choosing to believe in...
It lets us see that it's always been about what am I now choosing AND what am I accepting...?
So, when we recognise how life projects in the mind, we can let go of the belief in secondary causes, surrender fully to the present moment and live in line with our nature...... which is Love.
And we not only feel amazing as an outcome, we 're-cognise' ourself with knowing that experiencing what we'd love is as simple as...
What would I now love to experience?
And am I willing to accept my own gift?
So simple and so transformational yet accepting it's this simple and accepting our own gift is where we're often challenged.
Because the paradox is that to experience how simple it is, we've firstly got to let go of our grip on the oars...
And if we're living from the mind, we want to know it's safe before we do!
