Two thirds of mega project are done!
Since 2017 I2G has been conducting larger Consortium type R&D projects, where several power utilities (both TSOs and DSOs) combining efforts and resources to solve practical issues common for all participants.
The third, running R&D Consortium project is performed 2023-2025 and combined the following participants:
1.???? I2G (Sweden)
2.???? 50Hertz (Germany)
3.???? Amprion (Germany)
4.???? APG (Austria)
5.???? Energinet (Denmark)
6.???? Bayernwerk (Germany)
7.???? Fingrid (Finland)
8.???? Red Eléctrica (Spain)
9.???? RTE (France)
10.? Statnett (Norway)
11.? Svk (Sweden)
12.? TenneT (Germany)
Different participating utilities have different volumes of composite insulators in their fleet (from hundreds units to hundreds of thousands units) and different philosophies of their further use. However, the common question is how to provide optimal maintenance procedures for the already installed composite insulators and it covers three basic issues:
·?????? How to collect and analyse service experience in order to take proper maintenance actions?
·?????? What type of maintenance is needed for composite insulators?
·?????? How to evaluate remaining service life and what are the corresponding actions?
The activities are divided between three consecutive working packages and each package is finished by a two-days’ workshop. This time the workshop 2 was excellently hosted by Amprion from Germany and resulted in sharing of extensive technical expertise during the whole event. All participating companies see great value in the opportunity to exchange openly any insulation-related issues. The second work package was finished, and the third work package has been started. It was fully agreed on the broad dissemination plan for the results of the completed project (to be finished in 2025) covering publications in CIGRE Science and Engineering Journal (CSE), 2025 CIGRE International Symposium in Montreal, 2025 INMR World Congress in Panama and CIGRE Session 2026 in Paris. Keep your eyes open!

4 个月Thanks Igor Gutman for joining together several TSOs and thanks to Kübranur Varli for hosting us in Dusseldorf last week. For Red Eléctrica improving life cycle assessment of composite insulators is one key issue so we are looking forward to the MCI project final results. I would also like to highlight the participation of my colleagues in the MCI Project, particularly @Javier López Osuna and @Ricardo Barbera and joining us in this last meeting MELANIA GRIMALDOS. Collaboration between TSOs to find solutions to common problems is not only efficient but a rewarding experience for all parties involved.
