Yesterday I had the pleasure of spending an entire day in the company of the world’s number one wealth coach, public speaker, entrepreneur, peak performance coach- JT Foxx. If you don’t know who he is, I suggest that you check him out, start following him on social media or better yet, figure out a way of spending some time with him too-I can assure you, it’s totally worth it if you are serious about your business. And if you are not a business owner, his aura, energy and words inspire and motivate you in all sorts of ways! I have often been called a “collector”- of people, personalities, characters, gurus, experiences- let’s assume that this is somewhat true. I am fascinated with people. This is precisely why I’m in the people’s business of HR in Atlantis, The Palm Dubai- overseeing Employee Engagement and Employee Happiness! So, for the sake of those who may never get to meet JT Foxx, a celebrity public speaker from Canada, and sometimes USA (depending on who he is introducing himself to- that’s his ‘not so private’ joke), I will take the liberty and summarize my take aways from the seminar.
- Develop your personal brand- whether you are an entrepreneur or not, everyone must have their personal brand. If someone googles your name- what do they see? What do your choices of posts, images and associations on your social media channels say about you? Well you might think- my Facebook is my personal space- think again! It is not. Facebook, Instagram, Youtube and other platforms are just a potential way of allowing people to judge you- and either employ you or decide to do business with you. Or not to. So make it count; associate yourself with people who will give you a good reputation. This is called branding by association. JT Foxx has an excellent way of doing this, he has associated himself with celebrities such as Sylvester Stallone, Mark Walberg, Al Pacino, John Travolta; with singers such as 50 Cent and Vanilla Ice, with entrepreneurs and innovators such as Richard Branson and Jack Welch, with political figures and extremely wealthy people. Let’s face it, most of us will probably never get close to these public figures. But there are other ways to get around this hurdle, and I have found a few secret back doors- a few ways to build credibility around your personal brand.
- Growth happens when you are out of your comfort zone. Life is never comfortable for those on the path of success! What does this controversial statement mean? Surely that cannot be true! Read on. Individuals who make decisions that make them feel comfortable, learn how to be uncomfortable. They become comfortably numb. Do not become comfortably miserable! If you can afford one, hire a peak performance coach or a life strategist. If you cannot, then look for someone at work or around you who you can look up to and who can mentor you to become the best possible version of you- until you can afford a coach! Who made Messi, Ronaldo, Tiger Woods, Tendulkar who they are today? Their coaches! Why should you be any different? I am thankful for the many opportunities that I have had to coach and guide colleagues at my workplace. Atlantis, The Palm employs over 3000 people from all walks of life. And for the last nine years, I have been involved in creating desirable changes to their current situations. At the same time, I have had, and continue to have, some of the most amazing people around me. Individuals who have helped mold Kristina and have been part of her transformational journey.
Look for opportunities in life that will help you grow, succeed, change for the better. Surround yourself with positive people, individuals who inspire you. Here are five pearls of wisdom that JT shared with us:
- It takes one person, one opportunity to be successful. The most successful relationship is the people you know.
- Your mind is stronger than your excuses. Remove your excuses! Once you remove them you will start to be successful.
- Success is the sum of all the choices we have made in life.
- 40% of speaking success is knowing the fundamentals, 60% is marketing and branding!
- It’s not about your story, it’s about if people want to buy your story! People don’t buy products, they buy people.
“Don’t talk, act. Don’t say, show. Don’t promise, produce!”
I get it.
