Two stories, different results. Why?
Story #1
I grew up middle class.
My dad died and I remember how badly I wanted to help my mom financially, but I couldn’t.
My mom didn't teach me about money because she herself didn’t know anything about money.
I missed a big opportunity to start building wealth from an early age because of this upbringing.
When I think back, it's hard not to wish I had a better upbringing.
Story #2
I grew up middle class.
My dad died and I remember how badly I wanted to help my mom financially, but I couldn’t.
It’s amazing how much my mom cared for me and the things she did for my siblings and me.
Not having money growing up taught me important lessons that I never would have learned if I had a silver spoon.
I’m grateful that I experienced the challenges of the middle class because I wouldn’t be where I am today without it.
When I think back, it's hard not to feel like I was blessed.
Two stories. Same facts. Different mindsets.
We all have self-talk, the things we tell ourselves about ourselves and our life.
Usually we take a positive spin or a negative spin to the things we’ve been through.
The problem is, you BECOME what you think…
- I'm not an entrepreneur.
- I can't win at my job.
- I'm never going to find the right person.
- I’ll never catch a break.
Today, I want you to think about the narratives you’re telling yourself.
Do you feel sorry for yourself about a lack of opportunity, or grateful for the opportunities you do have?
You can change things, beginning today.
