Two similar stories.
When Jane returns to Thornfield from Moor House, the innkeeper tells her this story.
"The arrogant governess betrayed Rochester. Rochester turned into a dangerous person all because of her."
This is very similar to Rochester's story about Bertha. (He said Bertha ruined his life.) Then who created and spread this story in the village? I think it is Rochester. In other words, Rochester created and spread the story that put all the blame on Jane as soon as she left. And as we know, this story is a lie. Then, is Rochester's story about Bertha true?
