Today morality in politics is so depressing. It is shameful and difficult to digest, that politicians could stoop so low. The nation needs to come out of this malaise soon, which has never been so uglier than before.
In this connection, I had penned an article, ‘Is Multi-Party or Two-party System Good for India’ on July 28, 2017.

Once again yesterday’s political developments have stirred up a hornet’s nest, even before we could overcome the trick, treachery and tactics of turncoat politicians, who had recently lowered the reputation of Indian politics.
We want our country to observe proper principles, not only on the plinth of politics, but in all walks of life, as well, just as our ancient civilization and Vedic culture stood uprightly, by practicing societal righteousness and rectitude, honor and honesty, decency and dignity in public life collectively.
So, we need not waste time in the blame game, and straightaway come to the issue to seek a solution.
Time has come, to examine the disadvantages, and remove the flaws and faults of a multi party and regional party system that has led to the downgrading of Indian political system, and has also wrecked our social values, besides tossing the reputation and the reliability of the politicians in India.
There are almost one thousand registered political parties in India, a pot full of parties, can turn DEMOCRACY into MOBOCRACY, and wipe out, the rule of law.
Therefore, presidents of all political parties, by mutual consent, should come to a common consensus, and narrow down, one thousand parties, by mergers and consolidation, into a TWO PARTY system, giving the Indian electorate, a clean choice, to cast their vote, to either one, of the two parties.
By doing so, political parties can prevent horse trading, thwart the tactics of the turncoats, and end the unscrupulous manner, of giving tickets to candidates in return of money.
Among the recognized national parties, only two time-tested, major political parties standout distinctly, one is BJP and the other is CONGRESS, assessed in terms of:
[1] Individual national base and membership of the party
[2] The requisite size of funds on hand to contest election at national level
[3] Having mandatory experience to rule and run the country
[4] Comprising a set of leaders with experience and competence.
Currently BJP is becoming stronger day by day, while Congress is dissipating its erstwhile strength fully and finally. This phenomenon can be attributed, as an outcome of an appropriate, and an inappropriate leadership.
Social etiquettes stop me, suggesting, I have no business to poke my nose in the internal affairs of any political party. However, taking into account, the current stalemate and status quo, I cannot resist the audacity to air my views.
Congress party is managed by the members of ‘one family’, and operates like any other private enterprise does. The members of the family have occupied the highest posts in the Government, as well in the party, namely, Jawahar Lal Nehru, Indra Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi.
Nowhere in the world, have four generations of a family, enjoyed so much power and adulation of the people. There is no doubt, what good the family did for the country, country has done far more good to them.
In fact, many members of the family, have been ‘immortalized’ at the cost of public money, by erecting their statues throughout India, converting official residences as their memorials, offering prime land as their final resting place, and also engraving their names by rechristening every important public place and institutions in India etc, etc. What more the family wants now?
After sunrise the sun sets, and full moon wanes too. The far-sighted foresee coming events as they cast their shadow before. It’s right time for the family, to hang up their boots, and hand over the reign and make Congress a people’s party, by infusing new blood, new face and new outlook.
We should not forget, balanced and unprejudiced history is recorded, after 100 years, from the occurrance of an event in the past. Historians don’t spare the ordinary or the mighty.
A strong opposition party is essential to keep necessary checks and balances in a democracy. Congress is a party, which has the wherewithal to shape, a two party system, relevant for Indian democracy.
Therefore, congress party in its new avatar should come up, to the expectation of the people of India. Time is running out, so act fast, before it’s too late, to save the party disappearing into oblivion.
