Two Months of Transformation: Reflections from the Head of Business Development at Untap Your Sales Potential

Head of Business Development @Untap Your Sales Potential ex|LinkedIn, Fortune, Udemy, and TriNet
Building a consistent habit of sharing insights in this newsletter has been invaluable. With the fast-paced energy of NYC, it’s easy to fall into “go, go, go” mode. Taking a step back to reflect has been powerful, and I’m grateful for the chance to slow down and be intentional.
Reflecting on Month 2 in My New Role
Two months into my journey as Head of Business Development, I’m constantly strategizing on how to best leverage the role. With over 8,000 leads in our database from those who’ve engaged with our content, I’m challenged to think like a CEO—a mindset Tanveer Mostafa and Ian Koniak continually reinforce.
The question that guides me: “Is this the best use of my time?”
“In the past, I was more reactive, often caught in people-pleasing habits. Now, I’m intentional about where my time and energy go. Rewiring old habits isn’t always easy, but I’m learning to embrace the quiet moments and the focus they bring. Ian’s advice has also pushed me to balance the thrill of spontaneity with long-term goals. Building a career, while imagining a future with a family, calls for a deeper focus on planning.”
Finding Purpose Beyond the “Corporate Cushions”
Do I miss the perks of corporate life—the resources, the luxuries of world-class companies? At times, yes. But working with a team I believe in, for a product I trust, is incredibly fulfilling. The empowering context is clear: I get to focus on value and impact every day.
The Value of Taking the Plunge
Before I joined, Untap Your Sales Potential relied mostly on inbound interest. In just two months, I’ve had the chance to add new value, connecting with people who might not have proactively engaged with us otherwise. It’s rewarding to see how the universe rewards purpose-driven work—good karma has a way of finding you.
A Final Thought: Victim vs. Victor Mindset
When faced with challenges, we have two choices: stay in a victim mindset or step up and create something different. Insanity is doing the same thing repeatedly and expecting new results. Believing in myself, investing in personal growth, and putting myself through the hard work has led me to this moment. I’m surrounded by talented sales professionals, learning from brilliant minds, and it’s a privilege I don’t take lightly.
Take the plunge. Invest in yourself, believe in your vision, and you’ll be amazed by what’s possible.

This is the original post I posted into ChatGPT so you can see my process of how I’m able to be so consistent with my post and write everything in under 20 mins.
I’m writing a LinkedIn newsletter that I have been posting 3 times a week. Can you help it be found by more people Im aiming to get to 5,000 subscribers by the end of the year. Add Hashtags and proof read this. Have a good call to action too. Thanks for your help. I’ve gotten a ton of value from creating a consistent habit and writing a weekly newsletter.
Being able to reflect and share valuable insights is always a good thing because working out of NYC and being in the North East there is this go go go energy so its great to slow down and be a bit more intentional about things in general.

Wrapping up month 2 of being head of Business Development at Untap Your Sales Potential.
I like to think about how to attack what I was hired to do.
Because we have over 8,000 leads from people who have expressed interest or signed up for our newsletter/trainings. I have to think about thinking like a CEO which is something that Tanveer and Ian drills into my head a lot of times.
Is this ultimately a good use of my time is the main sentiment that has been resonating with me.
In the past, I didn’t value my time and I would resort to my recovering people pleasing tendencies and now I’m a bit more diligent and thoughtful in where I allocate my time. Because I’m rewiring of my old ways of being sometimes it is uncomfortable when people reach out to me for random things. My old tendency is to respond right away. In rewiring and retraining myself, I found myself learning to accept boredom and being okay with monotony.
Ian has stressed during our calls that I have a lot of compulsive behaviors which sometimes is fine. I have a lot of good stories to tell but is not really advantageous towards long term goals if having a family and being a father is something in my cards. I have to think about others and the long term planning component of having a family vs just “living in the moment” and being spontaneous about everything.
Everything happens for a reason. One of the lessons that Ian often imparts to me is that everything I did lead me to right now and that I’m here because of everything I’ve done to this point.
Do I miss sometimes the cushy advantages of corporate has? A lot of the “distractions” and shiny objects that working for world class multi billion dollar companies have? Of course, but its been so nice to work for a company that’s product works and that I genuinely believe in.
We have two choices in life always. Do we choose to focus on the negatives or can we have an empowering context most days. Of course, no one is perfect and we are all susceptible to having an off day.
I’m learning so much learning behind the scenes in building this rocket ship. I’m happy that this model works. Before they hired me they were operating pretty much on inbounds which obviously still works. The company is growing but since I started I’ve been able to provide a lot to value to people who otherwise wouldn’t be proactive in working with us.
I can’t believe its only been 2 months. It feels like so much more but I’m so glad I took the plunge. It’s a most different feeling than other start ups because when you work with some of the most talented people in the world and you ultimately are providing a crap ton of value out there in the universe. The universe will reward you. Good karma always finds a way to come back to help you out.
?I’m writing this because I want you think about am I being a Victim about things or am I doing/being something different. Insanity is doing the same exact thing your whole life and expecting different results. If I didn’t believe in myself ultimately and put myself through the ringer and invest in all of this personal development. I wouldn’t be working with and chatting with some of the most talented sale professionals in the world at a career where I go to travel and be exposed to some of the smartest most brilliant people in the world. It’s truly a blessing.
Take the plunge. You will thank me afterwards.
Comment, like, and subscribe. My goal is to hit 5000 subs by the end of the year.
Showing you the behind the scenes of building this rocketship with the most talented team I’ve ever been a part of.
