Two Months Left in 2024!

Greetings ~

It's November already and it's evident everywhere that the Holiday Season is upon us! Starbucks is now using December-themed cups, retailers are crazy with Christmas displays, and Amazon is advertising holiday deals.

Let's talk about Thanksgiving. I believe it to be the most important holiday, ever, this year. Step back and be grateful... for everything you are blessed to have: families, friends, food, shelter, jobs - if you have one - and steadfast hope if you don't. Above all else, please focus on things you can control, like being kind and respectful to one another, even if your opinions differ. Now, more than ever, we need a strong sense of humanity. Do your part.

Special acknowledgment and thanks to all US Veterans - they deserve to be honored way more than once a year. Be mindful of what they do for us, over and over to maintain our freedom. Consider donating to organizations that support them. One of our favorites: Wounded Veterans of Florida

We've recently returned from our 10th Mortgage Bankers Association conference and it was a terrific success for us. Thank you to all who visited us for LinkedIn Rapid Reviews and to all who simply came up to say 'Hello!' and reconnect. LinkedIn Tips and More

TIP 1 - Use a Strategy

LinkedIn members using the Basic (free) membership will want a strategy for extending invitations to connect. You are limited to just 5 monthly opportunities to 'Add a note' to give members a reason to accept your invitation. Try this when you have someone in mind:

• Visit their profile and check their Activity for Posts
• Find a post that resonates & React to it (Like, Comment, Congrats, etc)
• Then Comment with 10 words or more (a sentence,) to add value
• Watch for them to acknowledge you with a Comment back
• Now you have engaged with them!
• Ask them to accept the invitation you've sent as it won't have a note.

We are seeing more and more of this interaction and it seems to work!

TIP 2 - Repost without your thoughts

When I first saw this suggestion by another LinkedIn advocate, it was the opposite of what I had done for months (years?) When Reposting (Sharing) someone's post, I always thought it best to introduce it with why you were sharing it. That said, I believe in statistics and analysis. The claim was made that I was getting 10-15% of the actual reach and it was doing the originator more harm than good. So, I've been trying that, and, guess what? My reposts have gained more visibility. Give this a try and keep tabs on your results.

TIP 3 - Pods are evil!

Just sayin'... What is a pod? It's an agreement among several members to vow to React (Like, Comment, etc.) one another's Posts to create engagement. There's just one problem with this... and it's a big one: This is FAKE ENGAGEMENT. And it's something to stay away from. Be authentic - it's what the platform encourages. And it's what members like best! Pod users are opening themselves up to become Restricted Accounts. And then you'll have ZERO access to your LinkedIn account. Is it worth losing your account and all its content?
