The Two-Minute Expert Diagnosis That Changed My Life
Hi there,
Boy, have I got a message to share with you today.
All my life, I have had a persistent cough which I thought and had been told was asthma, after very extensive testing, mind you. But here’s the thing: my symptoms never lined up with asthma, and inhalers did not work.
After years of testing and CT scans and very high medical bills, I just kind of gave up, thinking I guess I have a “nervous cough,” like the one Sarah Jessica Parker had in that terrible movie, The Family Stone (don’t watch it, it’s a snooze).
My husband has been concerned about this cough, and I don’t think it’s just because it’s so annoying to be around. He never shared my resignation to a lifetime of clearing my throat. Lately, he became more concerned for me, as the condition seemed to have worsened. And, one night, he said something to me that struck a chord. He said that it may be really hard for me to live this way. Which suddenly, after more than 40 years of this (honestly, I do not recall a time in my life when I did not have this condition), made me think:
It IS hard to live this way.
Which then lead to the thought: there must be a correct diagnosis, and there must be a solution to this.
After some research, I found the number 1 ENT superstar doctor in all of Texas, Austin’s own Dr. Daniel Slaughter. I waited a whole month for the appointment, which came after just two tests: a CT, and a nasal endoscopy, both of which took maybe 10 minutes. That’s when he came in: the great genius, the doctor. He walked in with all the images from my scan, pointed a laser at my nose, and told me, point-blank, that this is a chronic sinus infection, that has been caused by a very clearly (according to the images) deviated septum, and that has never been treated so has brought on all the side effects.
And then, he said that it is readily treatable with a round of antibiotics.
I stared at him, incredulous. “That’s it?” I asked.
“Are you sure?”
To which he replied, simply: “yes,” and proceeded to tell me he was shocked – and very sorry – no one had caught anything this obvious sooner.
I don’t mind telling you, I teared up hearing this.
The mere thought that this was/ is about to go away – something with which I have lived MY WHOLE FRIGGIN' LIFE is finally going to go away… why, it is simply life-giving. I tell you, in that moment, I did not care how much this costs, or how long it has taken. I have a new way to be.
This life-giving breakthrough is not the only point of this story. What I REALLY want to emphasize is the importance, the brilliance, and the INCALCULABLE value of seeing the right expert, who can diagnose something quickly and efficiently.
The effect of knowing, at last, what has been ailing me reminds me of the many, many people in coaching, who react the same way I did, when I see and reveal to them their blindspots – the very hurdles that have kept them from living as fully as they want to live – in record speed.

I guess you’ll just have to take my word, or theirs, for it. But I will tell you this: it’s as liberating as it sounds.
EXPERTISE: IT SAVES YOU TIME. IT SAVES YOUR LIFE.
In the book "10x is Easier than 2x," Benjamin Hardy (and co-author Dan Sullivan) tells a compelling story about a consultant and a nuclear reactor to illustrate a crucial point about focus and expertise. Here’s the story, in a nutshell:
A nuclear reactor was malfunctioning, and no one could figure out how to fix it. The plant operators were in a state of panic as the situation was critical and could lead to a catastrophic failure. In their desperation, they called in a highly regarded consultant known for his expertise in nuclear reactors.
The consultant arrived, spent a few minutes examining the reactor, and then took out a piece of chalk from his bag. He drew an 'X' on a specific pipe and told the plant operators to replace that section. The operators were skeptical but followed his advice. After replacing the marked section, the reactor started working perfectly again.
When the operators asked for the bill, the consultant handed them an invoice for $10,000. Surprised by the amount, the operators asked for a detailed breakdown of the charges. The consultant responded with the following:
$9,999 for knowing where to put the ‘X.”
THAT is what you are paying for, and that is what you should delight at paying for.
And this is the point: Hardy's story emphasizes the value of expertise, resulting in their knowing where to focus one’s efforts.
I am so thankful to have found Dr. Slaughter. I am so thankful to the coaches who helped me, years ago, to similarly finally understand what was holding me back and sabotaging my results so I could get out of my own way, find true love, find my purpose, and become as successful as I have always wanted to be.
It is the honor of my life to now be able to do the same for you.
If you are finally ready to see the expert who could save you time and help you change YOUR life, schedule a consultation with me.
I hope this message resonates with you. It's been a joy to share.
To your breakthrough,
