Two Local Men Sentenced for Assaulting Corrections Officers
MAYS LANDING, NJ – On Thursday, July 11, 2024, Bilal Rex, 20, of Atlantic City, NJ, and Samir Abdullah, 21, of Galloway Twp., NJ, were sentenced to three years in New Jersey State Prison. Both Rex and Abdullah were already serving terms of incarceration due to previous guilty pleas. ?The new terms of incarceration will be served consecutively to their previously imposed sentences.
On December 12, 2022, Rex and Abdullah assaulted two correctional officers while inside of the Atlantic County Juvenile Detention Center.
On May 16, 2024, they each pleaded guilty to third-degree Aggravated Assault on Corrections Employees.
