Two little kids and a life lesson

“Please buy one piece for your kid sir”, the little boy pleaded. He blew bubbles with the “bubble maker” toy, his hopeful eyes scanning the crowd.

No one seemed to notice or care as the people walked into the Mall on the Saturday evening.

Disappointment showed on his distraught face and tears welled in his eyes as he looked at the bag full of “bubble makers”.

He hadn’t sold a single toy today.

And the thought of sleeping on an empty stomach made him feel miserable.

His chain of thoughts was broken as he felt a tap on his shoulder.

A bespectacled boy of his age looked at him enquiringly.

“Is everything okay”, he asked.

“The day has been bad, no sale today”. “Would you like to buy a bubble maker?”, the little boy responded.

“I am waiting for my father to complete some purchasing and come out, I’ll ask him”, the bespectacled kid said.

“Okay”, the little boy said. His eyes gleamed with hope again.

“Are you hungry?”, the bespectacled kid asked.

The little boy nodded with a “Yes”

The bespectacled kid extended the cardboard box in his hand to the little boy.

“What’s this?”, the little boy asked, accepting the box with some hesitation.

“Doughnuts”, the bespectacled boy said with a smile. “My father got it for me from Dunkin Donuts”.

“Thank you”, the little boy said as he safely stored away the box in the bag with the “bubble makers”

“Why don’t you eat the doughnut?”, the bespectacled boy asked.

“I’ll share it with my younger brother when I go home”, the little boy said.

“Yash, come lets go home”. The bespectacled boy turned around.

“Papa, can we buy a bubble maker?”, he asked.

“Enough for today Yash”, his father said. “I already got you the doughnut you asked for”.

The little boy watched the bespectacled kid and his father walk away towards the parking lot.

The bespectacled kid felt a tap on his shoulder as he was about to board the car.

The little boy placed a bubble maker in his hands. “This is for you”, he said with a smile.

And ran back to the Mall.

The little kids did have big hearts.
