Two Eurobike Awards 2024 for ORTLIEB at once

Innovations made in Germany honoured

ORTLIEB Sportartikel GmbH, 19.07.24 - The annual Eurobike, which attracts around 66,000 visitors and over 1900 exhibitors, is the leading international bicycle trade fair. Every year, a high-calibre jury of experts, which this year included Olympic MTB champion Sabine Spitz, presents the Eurobike Award. The prize, which is one of the highest honours in the bicycle industry, recognises new products and technologies that impress with a high degree of innovation, design and manufacturing quality. ORTLIEB received two of the coveted awards.

Only 43 of the approximately 300 products submitted from 35 countries were able to convince the jury and receive one of the awards, the "Oscar of the bike industry". ORTLIEB was able to secure an award for both its Quick-Rack XL and its Velo-Sling.

Anyone who wants to use their bike in a variety of ways, sometimes without a rack and sometimes with attachments for bags and baskets, will be familiar with the problem of having a fixed rack on an otherwise clean bike. The Quick-Rack XL from ORTLIEB definitely puts an end to tedious mounting and dismounting of the rack. The heavy-duty rack can be fitted in just 15 seconds and removed in five seconds. The patented Quick-Rack XL (120€) can be universally adapted to the bike thanks to different strut lengths and can even be used on full-suspension bikes and carbon bikes.

ORTLIEB's second award-winning product is the Velo-Sling. It is a hybrid of a compact handlebar bag and sling bag. Thanks to the roll closure with self-locking magnetic fastener and the three litre volume, the waterproof bag can easily store your wallet, mobile phone and rain jacket. The Velo-Sling (€85) is of course just as sustainably manufactured in Germany as the Quick-Rack XL.

The eight-member jury of the Eurobike Award also honoured the company's high level of innovation. "The Quick-Rack XL rack from ORTLIEB is a well thought-out solution for mounting on bikes with large tyres up to 29"/2.6". It can be mounted using an adapter axle or classic M5 threads. The combination of 10 and 12 mm wide aluminium tubes makes the carrier particularly robust and has a maximum load capacity of 27 kg. The QL3.1 system facilitates quick attachment using existing threads in the support tubes. The product offers an innovative answer to a common problem with bikes with large tyres," said the jury when selecting the Quick-Rack XL.

They also had words of praise for the Velo-Sling: "In addition to its multifunctionality, the Velo-Sling handlebar and shoulder bag from ORTLIEB impresses in particular with its intuitive, technically well thought-out and reinforced roll closure with innovative magnetic buckle, which enables quick and easy one-handed operation. The waterproof 3L bag made of PU-coated nylon fabric to IP54 standard can be used as a lightweight handlebar bag and practical shoulder bag. The sophisticated design with mesh inner pocket and daisy chains ensures flexibility and versatility of use - even off the bike."

Both products will be available from January 2025. The new products were on display at this year's Eurobike, which took place in Frankfurt from 3 to 7 July 2024.

J?hrlich vergibt eine hochkar?tig besetzte Fachjury, zu der dieses Jahr unter anderem auch MTB-Olympiasiegerin Sabine Spitz geh?rte, den Eurobike Award. Der Preis, der zu den h?chsten Auszeichnungen der Fahrradbranche z?hlt, pr?miert neue Produkte und Technologien, die durch ein hohes Ma? an Innovation, Design und Verarbeitungsqualit?t bestechen. ORTLIEB erhielt gleich zwei der begehrten Auszeichnungen.

Nur 43 der rund 300 eingereichten Produkte aus 35 L?ndern konnten die Jury überzeugen und erhielten eine der Auszeichnungen, den ?Oscar der Bikebranche“. ORTLIEB konnte sich sowohl für ihren Quick-Rack XL, als auch für ihre Velo-Sling einen Award sichern.

Wer sein Rad variabel nutzen m?chte und manchmal ohne Gep?cktr?ger und manchmal mit Anbringungsm?glichkeiten für Taschen und K?rbe unterwegs sein m?chte, kennt das Problem des fest montierten Gep?cktr?gers am sonst eher cleanen Bike. Langwierige Montage oder Demontage des Gep?cktr?gers hat mit dem Quick-Rack XL von ORTLIEB definitiv ein Ende. Der Schwerlasttr?ger l?sst sich in nur 15 Sekunden montieren und in fünf Sekunden demontieren. Der patentierte Quick-Rack XL (120€) ist durch unterschiedliche Strebenl?ngen universell ans Fahrrad anpassbar und kann sogar an vollgefederten Bikes und Carbonr?dern verwendet werden.

Das zweite von ORTLIEB pr?mierte Produkt ist die Velo-Sling. Sie ist ein Hybrid aus kompakter Lenkertasche und Sling-Bag. Die wasserdichte Tasche bewahrt dank des Rollverschlusses mit selbstsicherndem Magnetverschluss und den drei Litern Volumen neben dem Portemonnaie, dem Handy auch noch problemlos die Regenjacke. Die Velo-Sling (85€) wird zudem natürlich ebenso nachhaltig in Deutschland hergestellt wie der Quick-Rack XL.

Auch die achtk?pfige Jury des Eurobike Awards honorierte die hohe Innovationskraft des Unternehmens. ?Der Gep?cktr?ger Quick-Rack XL von ORTLIEB stellt eine durchdachte L?sung für die Montage an Fahrr?dern mit gro?en Reifen bis 29“/2,6“ dar. Er kann über eine Adapterachse oder klassische M5-Gewinde montiert werden. Insbesondere durch die Kombination aus 10 und 12 mm breiten Aluminiumrohren ist der Tr?ger besonders robust und hat eine maximale Traglast von 27 kg. Das QL3.1 System erleichtert die schnelle Befestigung durch vorhandene Gewinde in den Tr?gerrohren. Das Produkt bietet eine innovative Antwort auf ein h?ufiges Problem bei Bikes mit gro?en Reifen“, so die Jury zur Auswahl des Quick-Rack XL.

Auch für die Velo-Sling fanden sie lobende Worte: ?Neben ihrer Multifunktionalit?t beeindruckt die Lenker- und Umh?ngetasche Velo-Sling von ORTLIEB insbesondere durch den intuitiv zu bedienenden, technisch gut durchdachten und verst?rkten Rollverschluss mit innovativer Magnetschnalle, der eine schnelle und einfache Einhandbedienung erm?glicht. Die wasserdichte 3L-Tasche aus PU-beschichtetem Nylongewebe nach IP54-Standard kann als leichte Lenkertasche und praktische Umh?ngetasche genutzt werden. Das durchdachte Design mit Mesh-Innentasche und?Daisychains?sorgt für Flexibilit?t und vielseitige Nutzungsm?glichkeiten – auch abseits des Radsports.“

Beide Produkte sind ab Januar 2025 erh?ltlich. Zu sehen waren die Neuheiten im Rahmen der diesj?hrigen Eurobike, die vom 3. bis zum 7.Juli 2024 in Frankfurt stattfand.
